Global warming is the long-term rise in the
average temperature of the Earth’s climate
system.
• During the time period between 18th and 20th
century the average temp. has risen by ~1 °C
and till the end of 21st century could even be
3°C.
• This summer many cities in India, especially in
Rajasthan the temp. went to about 50°C.

What has caused
it?
The cause of global warming at
its core is the increase in the
amount of green house gases.
Gases like carbon dioxide,
methane, nitrous oxides, CFCs,
etc. are called Green House
gases. The following cause an
increase in them :
• Burning fossil fuels
• Deforestation & Tree-
Clearing
• Agriculture & Farming
