Measures of Dispersion and Variability: Range, QD, AD and SD
New!
1. Miki- Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. My name is miki, and these are my
constituents Jessica and Yusfeka. We are speaking to you today on behalf of the
public relations firm "of the people"
Jessica -Today we are going to pitch you our public relations plan for this
organization.
Firstly, after the research we have conducted, we have concluded that your main
issue is the amount of support and activists that follow you. You need to increase
your following.
We have analyzed the situation and have discovered that the public is not fully
aware of what your company does and what role they too can play. Your
organization exists solely on the support of your "activists." The organizations main
function is mobilizing individuals to express their support and concern for human
rights through pledges and actions. Currently the organization consists of over 3
million activists in over 150 countries. Considering that the organization has been
around for well over 50 years, the numbers should be at least double.
Basically in order to help these causes, the amount of activists needs to increase
Goals
Yusfeka - Now our main goal is to increase the amount of "activists" by 2 million
over a 5-10 year span.
Objectives - our objectives in order to achieve this goal are
1. To increase media coverage
2. Increase news updates
3. Increase international support
2. Miki- How we are going to do this is by targeting these specific publics.
1. Students
Students are one of the most influential groups of people in society. They were born
in the age of technology. When one person knows, it spreads like wildfire. Now not
only one student knows but next tier class, then their school, their families, and their
employers. Word of mouth is key. Now with technology it can spread faster and
further.
2. Public figures
Secondly, we need to target public figures. They are in the eye of the media. These
people gain thousands of followers who follow their every action. They can
influence their followers. If a public figure is seen involved or interested in the
organization, their followers will be intrigued and want to help as well.
3. Lastly we want to target Authoritative Officials. These are the people that have the
power to take control and take action. The organization has their activists sign
pledges. If a petition has enough pledges then the officials can then take further legal
action. With the support of the former publics, more authoritative officials can
express support as well.
Jessica - Strategies
Okay so now that we have clarified our objectives and our target publics. How are
we going to implement strategies to reach these objectives? If successful, we will
reach our target publics and gain supporters.
3. Our strategies for these objectives are firstly
1. We are going to brand the logo. The organization logo of a candle needs to become
a household name AND item. We need to gain sponsorship and create t-shirts,
bracelets and buttons. When people wear these items to show support, others will
see and gain interest.
2. Secondly, we need to elect a spokesperson. Someone the public can picture. The
organization needs a face. Someone needs to speak on behalf of the organization,
preferably someone influential.
3. Thirdly we need to make use of social networking. Create an Amnesty
International account of every social networking site.
Yusfeka Tactics.
As we have said before, we need to increase media coverage. We do this with our
spokesperson. This spokesperson will be in charge of conducting all press
conferences, and press releases. This person will be the image people see when they
think of the name Amnesty International.
Subsequently we need to improve the speed and accessibility of news updates. The
organization shares information with its activists. These activists use this
information to develop an opinion on the cause at hand. This leads to signatures,
events; pledges held that all lead to the passing of bills, laws and action taken to help
these causes.
4. Lastly, you need to increase your amount of international support. In order to
increase the amount of international activists, you will need to reach out to embassy
officials, have your spokesperson go to these countries and hold events, give
speeches, share stories.

Finally, we will need to evaluate these strategies. Each year you will need to provide
and updated statement of progress. Through annual events we want to showcase
our top activists and supporters, create achievements for our activists.
