1. Summer Session
End-of-Term Evaluation
Jean is an enthusiastic, hardworking and interested learner. His homework was always well done and on time. Jean
showed real commitment to improving his English and always listened to the feedback that I gave him. Jean actively
participated and his comments during class discussion were always relevant, interesting and insightful. Jean received
the second highest grade in the class. He chose to speak about soil erosion in the Dominican Republic for his final
PowerPoint presentation, and he spoke with confidence, had great eye contact, and showed that he grasped his topic.
Furthermore, he engaged the audience and demonstrated creativity. One of the things that most impressed me about
Jean was the fact that he went out of his way to help his classmates. Jean’s positive attitude and effort will help him
make excellent progress in English.

2. Summer Session
End-of-Term Evaluation
Jean is an amazing student. He is always attentive and engaged. He has assumed a leadership position in projects. His
work is meticulous, and you can tell he takes pride in always presenting the best work possible. His voice is unique and
insightful; it is easy to tell that he thinks deeply about the themes discussed in class and then organizes his ideas
coherently and persuasively. He has been the best student in his level. It was a true pleasure having him in my class this
summer. I wish him the best in all future endeavors.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course was focused on developing students’ reading and writing skills. Students developed their social and formal
writing skills through writing activities: journal entries, essays, short narratives, poetry, literary criticism, and note taking.
All students completed a final research paper and presentation. Students’ grammar improved through daily writing
exercises. Their writing became increasingly detailed, as evidenced by the use of rich and varied vocabulary. Reading
and discussing multiple texts introduced in thematic units allowed students to acquire a more extensive vocabulary.
Students’ reading supported their developing writing skills. The course reading assignments of varied genres served as
models for proper writing structure and style. Students examined these readings in class discussions and further
reflected on them through written responses. They were required to work in pairs or in groups on activities that enhanced
their reading fluency and comprehension. Students’ progress was evaluated through homework, class participation,
journal entries, research projects and annotations in their novels. Topics in class that were covered included the
environment, gender and relationships, law, education, politics, the economy and artistic expression.
OBJECTIVES:
Students were able to write with more precision and knowledge of language conventions and structures. Their
comprehension of formal and informal texts grew in depth, moving past a literal understanding towards complete
analysis and interpretation. Students gained more academic vocabulary and became more confident manipulating this
language to fit their needs as readers and writers.
