2. After the Greco-Persian Wars Athens was the dominant power in Greece
because they had a strong navy. Other city-states joined with Athens
who kept all the Greek ships safe from Persians and pirates. This group
of city-states was call the Delian league.

4. Sparta was the dominant city-state on land. Its army was the
most feared. Sparta began to worry that Athens was becoming
too powerful.
8. After the war there was a peace of 30 years. Then Sparta invaded
Attica, the part of Greece that contained Athens. This started the
second Peloponnesian War.
9. To find lumber to build new warships, the
Athenians invaded Sicily.
11. With the help of the Persians, the Spartans
defeated the Greeks and won the war.

13. The Persians regained the colonies of Asia Minor and the
city-states fought among each other. Soon Macedon under
Phillip II was able to conquer all of Greece.
