Thank you for taking the Kendall Life Languages Profile™ (KLLP™). We have no doubt it can help you to
truly understand yourself and others and be more successful in all your communication. By building on the
productive character qualities of your primary and descending Life Languages, and working to overcome
the non-productive ones, you can demonstrate Character-Based Communication. Understanding the LIFE
Languages™ and applying this knowledge can positively and dramatically change your relationships
forever.
Overview of the LIFE Languages™
There are 7 Life Languages divided into three Categories: Emotive, Cognitive, and Kinetic.

Your Overall Intensity: Moderate (63)
Your Intensity Level is MODERATE. The Intensity score reveals the strength, energy and passion shown in
communication. The higher the Intensity score, the higher the drive to communicate. High Intensity is often
an indication of someone who will fight for their opinion to be considered and to exercise control, (whether
directly or indirectly) and will do more to maintain communication and relationships. They may also be more
prone to conflict. High Intensity persons tend to draw attention, which can create an image of an
individualistic personality. Lower Intensity scores indicate those who generally do not compete to be heard,
although they may have valuable contributions to make and are sometimes overlooked or ignored. The
chart above gives your intensity on each language as well as your overall intensity.
Language Intensity
Each Life Language has it’s own individual intensity. The strength of the intensity score reveals the level of
energy for that specific Life Language. In the final anaylsis, overall intensity score is more of a determinant
on the forcefulness of an individual’s communication.
Gap
Gap is the distance between two different Life Languages. We measure the gap between the nearest two
Life Languages. The greater the gap, the more effort it takes to move from one Life Language to the other.
The smaller the gap, the easier it is to move between the two Life Languages.
Your Accumulated Range: Low
Your RANGE SCORE is considered LOW. The RANGE GAP between your primary and secondary
language scores is considered LOW. Range is the difference between your Primary and Seventh Life
Languages. A high or low score is neither better nor worse, though very meaningful. A High Range means
that the individual tends to stand out in his or her Primary language and has a more definable behavior and
communication style; however, that individual may have more difficulty communicating with those who
speak his or her weaker languages.A Low Range may mean that the individual tends to communicate
easily with all the languages, but may be less predictable and understandable to others, and sometimes
even to themselves. The failure to understand range is one of the primary causes of communication
difficulties. You will also want to look at the range (gap) between each language and how the range
increases with each descending language to give you the above score.

Mover Summary – Kinetic Category
Movers are characterized by being direct, assertive, pioneering, having integrity,
courage, passion, are persuasive, intuitive, protective and a standard bearer. Your
KLLP™ indicates you are a Moderate Mover. This means that you will have some of
the Mover characteristics, some of the time, especially when you choose to access
them.
Moderate Movers can be direct and assertive when the need arises. You are
probably physically and mentally agile and alert. When the situation calls for it, you
are ready to move into action.
You have strong convictions and standards in most areas of your life. The inner character and motives of
others are important to you. You attempt not to ask
or require more of others than you require of
yourself. The higher your Mover score is, the more of
a risk taker and innovator you will be. You are good
at expressing your beliefs, desires, and opinions, as
well as putting them into action. When you believe in
something, you have both the inclination and the
ability to get involved. When needed, you can take
charge or lead.
Because you can be assertive when you choose to
be, you may find yourself occasionally impatient with those who are slower to act or make decisions.
There are times when you are a visionary who can be innovative and bold. And when it is important to you,
you can show courage for the things and people you care about. You have many of the excellent Mover
characteristics, which will serve you well on your road to success in life.
The Mover Icon
Each icon reveals the story of that Life Language. You will see
the characteristics designed within the picture. If the icon was all
you had, you could study it and understand a great deal about
the particular communication style of that Life Language.
■ Name – The way the Mover name is written on the icon
indicates how this Life Language does in careers and
relationships. The Mover name is written like a roller coaster,
going through the adventures of ups and downs. Movers
generally persevere until they reach their goals. Healthy Movers
tend to learn from every season of ups and downs and can look
over their past experiences, and identify how they have grown
through the changes and how they have found success.
■ Category – In the center of the icon is a small hand holding a hammer. This signifies the Kinetic or Action
Category. A Mover’s life is filled with action. Inactivity, or all talk and little action, usually frustrates them.
Movers can be very direct and hard-hitting, like a hammer. They impact those around them to improve

■ Flag – Flags are often used to send signals, and Movers send signals through their facial expressions,
eyes, and actions. They are usually direct and honest; and seldom phony. They are typically not good at
having a “poker face.”
■ Light Bulb – On the flag the light bulb is symbolic of Movers being creative, idea people. They seem to
have a new idea minute-by-minute - fresh, innovative ways to start something new or improve on
something existing. They are also quite visionary.
■ Staff – The staff is holding the flag and is often referred to as a standard. Movers are standard bearers.
They hold or raise the standards of behavior and performance, motivating, and if necessary, provoking
others and themselves to a higher level.
■ Bugle – The bugle symbolizes “leading the charge.” Movers are pioneers, innovators, risk takers, and
adventurers. And, you will often find them out in front, leading by example.

Each Life Language has an invisible filter that screens incoming and outgoing communication. This invisible
filter is like wearing colored glasses and since the Mover’s color is Red; imagine that you see the world
through a red (or rose-colored) filter. The Mover's Filter is, “What is your motive?” Movers, by their very
nature, inspect the purity of an individual’s motive, or if there is a hidden agenda. Movers look for the
reason (whether good or bad) for the action and congruity between words and actions. This is a perceptive,
innate, intuitive ability that is very valuable in both personal and professional relationships. As a Mover, you
can choose to make a conscious paradigm shift and turn the filter question into a positive filter statement
saying, “I will seek to understand your motive, not judge it.” This change in the Mover’s filter turns it into an
opportunity to look for and expect the best in another person, to see and seek the best, not to form
judgment against the person. The more the Mover matures, the more he or she realizes that others’
motives or agendas may be different but that doesn’t necessarily make them wrong.
Needs From Others – Action and Congruency
Each Life Language has needs that are met through relationships, both personal and professional. When
one’s needs are met, fulfillment and contentment are experienced. Movers feel loved, valued and motivated
by receiving Action and Congruency from others. All talk and no action really frustrates Movers; they
respond to action. Do things for them, do things with them, but just do something. They also feel valued
when others are transparent. Remember, they don’t like phoniness, and really admire honesty, so when

and gives direction to their communication style. The Mover's Passion is To Innovate. This is their area of
creativity. Movers consistently seem to have new and better ways to do things, as they are idea people and

situations. Their innovative ability extends to developing ideas, methods, or procedures. This is the great

Key Character Strength – Courage
Each Life Language has many character strengths, but there is one that is the primary or Key Character
Strength and generally most pronounced in that person. Courage is the Mover’s Key Character Strength.
Courage is defined as “bravery and the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty,
danger, pain, etc., without fear or with their fear under control.”

Essential Trait – Cultivate Maintenance
A trait is “a distinguishing characteristic or personal quality.” Each Life Language has an Essential Trait that
is vital to the success of that Life Language. It is important for this trait to be developed and safeguarded in

The Essential Trait for you as a Mover is Maintenance, learning the value of maintaining what you have
begun. Movers are fast-paced pioneers and innovators who enjoy making things happen. Generally one of

Mover Leadership Style
Every Life language can be a leader, but each does it differently. One Language’s Leadership Style is not

Fun Facts
Mover Color and Music
There are seven colors in the color spectrum and seven whole musical notes. In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton
united in one mathematical matrix the phenomena of light and sound, and it continues today as the color-
music code. Colors vibrate and the measurement of the vibration corresponds with the vibration of the
musical notes.
Mover Color – Red
"Fire Engine," "Emergency" Red is the color associated with a bold, assertive, strong Life Language of a
Mover. The color is not easily ignored, and the Mover Communication Style is not one to be ignored or
overlooked.

A Core Value is the central, most important principle or standard characteristic for that particular Life

playing the piano. Most Martial, March, Battle and Patriotic music is written in the key of C. The C note, like
a Mover is defining and often the beginning, possibly of something big.
Nature Symbol – Mustang
The Nature Symbol for the Mover Life Language is the "Wild" MUSTANG. Wild horses or mustangs,
like Movers, are quick, intelligent, independent, surefooted, courageous, risk-takers, resilient, and very
protective. They are somewhat untameable and unpredictable. When a wild horse is tamed, they usually
do not pull wagons or plow fields. Some become excellent rodeo horses like team roping, cutting, steer
wrestling, etc. Others win races. Some become champions. Some become leaders of the herd. And,
some even become legends.

Producer Summary – Cognitive Category
Producers are characterized by their management skills, graciousness,
responsibility, philanthropy, resourcefulness, thoughtfulness, and hospitality. Your
KLLP™ Portrait indicates that you are a Moderate Producer. This means that you
will have some of the Producer characteristics some of the time, probably by choice
and often without too much effort.
Resourcefulness is a strong character strength of Producers, and, as a Moderate
Producer, you can be “creatively resourceful” when you choose to be, at times
surprising even yourself. Moderate Producers rise to the occasion and become
valuable managers with a balanced management
style.
The dissenting order of your Life Languages, the
situation, and circumstances determine your
generosity with money and resources. However, as a
Moderate Producer, you may be selectively generous
with your resources. Although you may not always
look for the best buys, there will be times when you
refuse to purchase something unless it is a quality
product at a bargain price. Healthy Producers tend to
be grateful for what they have, and treat both people and things with respect and care.

Influencer Summary – Emotive Category
Influencers are creative, optimistic, relational, persuasive, enthusiastic, and
encouraging. Your KLLP™ shows you are a Low Influencer. This means you will
innately have fewer of these characteristics than High Influencers. Those you do
have will be because you have chosen to learn, develop, and enjoy them.
Low Influencers often do not have a great need for a variety of relationships and
social activities. You may be enthusiastic, verbal, and excited about some things in
life, but you may also enjoy some silence and not feel the need to fill it with
constant sounds and words.
Like any of the LIFE Languages,™ the positive characteristics of Influencers can be learned and acquired.
Those who speak the Life Language of High
Influencer will be more difficult for you to relate to
and may require more effort on your part. As you
seek to relate to the Influencers in your life, make a
point to look beyond their fun-loving optimism and
see the depth of substance they offer to you and
others.

Language will give you added depth and make it

your relationships. Remember, there are no LIFE
Languages™ that you cannot communicate with if you choose to, because everyone speaks all seven LIFE
Languages,™ in descending order. By learning to recognize the Influencer Life Language, you show honor
and respect to them by communicating in their Life Language. That shows you are a person of character
and demonstrates a positive dimension to your communication skills.
None of us can continuously communicate in our Low or Very Low LIFE Languages™ for a prolonged

Responder Summary – Emotive Category
Responders are typically characterized as being compassionate, passionate,
sensitive, warm, protective, multifaceted, rescuing, and easy to communicate with.
Your KLLP™ indicates that you are a Low Responder. This means you will have
few, if any, of these characteristics naturally. Those you do have will be because of
your life experiences or because you have chosen to develop them. Low
Responders tend to be less emotional. If you share your feelings or are

1. Acceptance Level
This scale measures how you tend to view yourself, whether you more easily see your strengths and
positive attributes or your weaknesses and negative qualities. Or whether you see a balance between the
two—easily and honestly seeing both your negatives and positives qualities.
Your Acceptance Level - Moderate (56)
A Moderate Acceptance Level indicates that you tend to have a balanced awareness of yourself and
accept and focus equally on your positive attributes as your negative attributes. You are probably
not uncomfortable or especially troubled with either. Negative input about yourself by others, while
you will not like it, will not shake your Acceptance. Positive input about yourself by others will be
appreciated and enjoyed, but it will not typically change your Acceptance. If you see that you are

scores as an Introvert may seem outgoing and somewhat extroverted to those he or she knows well.
However, with strangers or those not known as well, the Introvert will typically be less verbal, less outgoing,
and not desire to mix with them.
Your Interactive Style – Introvert (35)
Your KLLP™ indicates that you are comfortable not being the center of attention unless you are with
people you know well. You are comfortable working behind the scenes, and enjoy small groups (or
one-on-one). Constantly being around a lot of people, especially those you do not know well, can be
exhausting and you may withdraw to prevent stress. You also may be self-motivated and enjoy
working alone; however, when working with groups, you prefer those you know well or people you
are comfortable with.
3. Internal Control Level
This scale indicates how you see yourself in the area of self-discipline or self-governing vs. spontaneity or
impulsiveness. Generally speaking, if we have high Internal Control, we are less prone to being externally
controlled, either by others, circumstances, or experiences. Some people prefer to get tasks done ahead of
schedule, and some seem to work better or more creatively doing things at the last minute under a time
pressure. The higher our Internal Control, the more disciplined, and our lower the Internal Control the more
flexible and spontaneous we are.
Your Internal Control Level – Moderate (43)
A Moderate Internal Control level suggests a relative balance between being self-governed and self-
disciplined vs. spontaneous and flexible. This score indicates that you can choose to be self-
disciplined when needed or to put aside tasks when appropriate, for example, when someone or a
situation interjects itself. Maintaining a healthy balance in this area is probably relatively easy for
you, and a goal all of us can seek.
4. Intrusion Level
This scale measures how you see yourself handling interruptions, intrusions, interference, outside stimuli,
people, or situations foreign to you, usually uninvited or unexpected. Intrusion Levels indicates how
comfortable and tolerant you are with distractions and differences. Some people like a more structured
environment, and others flow more easily with uninvited or unscheduled people or situations. For all of us, a
good habit to form is the ability to gently or kindly communicate when intrusions become an issue.
Your Intrusion Level - Low (29)
Your score indicates a lower level of comfort and tolerance for life as it is presented. Interruptions,
intrusions, unexpected circumstances, and outside interferences tend to test your patience and may
even be an irritation. Differences in others can be distracting, and you may want to guard yourself

Low Intrusion Level can help you to stay focused on tasks, but you may want to make sure you
sincerely and gently express yourself without projecting a dismissive attitude that could be hurtful to
another.
5. Projective Indicator
This scale indicates how important other’s perception and opinion is to you. For example: a person with a
high projective score could be greatly concerned if others had a less than positive opinion of them. A
person with a low score would probably shrug it off and not let it bother them. A balance between high and
low is valuable because it provides objectivity so that you can evaluate others attitudes about yourself and
thereby remain teachable.
Your Projective Level – High (70)
A High Projective Level indicates that you desire for others to like you, and you expect favor. If that
does not occur, then you want them to them to at least respect you. When you experience or
perceive indifference, disrespect, or dislike, you are typically stressed and troubled. If it is not
handled quickly and appropriately, it can become distress. A person with a High Projective Level
generally tries hard to please others, and because of this, could be somewhat easier to motivate
and a good employee. Those with High Projective Level must guard themselves to be sure they
don’t try to please everyone, thereby, being subject to burn out and/or peer pressure.
6. Susceptibility To Stress
This scale measures vulnerability to stress that comes into our lives. Stress is in all of our worlds, and
comes from various sources, even from having too many good things going on at one time. We are more
susceptible to stress when we are too busy, lacking sleep, not feeling well, fatigued, frustrated, lacking
exercise, and even unable to express ourselves adequately. Failure to handle stress properly can cause us
to move into one or more of the Distress Levels of our Life Languages. We can learn to recognize our
stress and do what is necessary to de-stress. Distress, by Life Languages definition, is when you respond
negatively to any situation.A key to avoid over reaction to stress and distress is H.A.L.T. Avoid stressful
situation when your are: H-hungry, A-angry, L-lonely and T-tired.
Your Susceptibility To Stress – Low (26)
A low susceptibility to stress indicates that, when in stressful situations or when dealing with
problems or crises you tend to remain calm rather than overly excited or even panicked. You most
likely respond to challenging or unpleasant situations in a similar manner as you do under normal
conditions. By allowing stress to pass over you, it is not likely to be a factor in causing you to
descend into your Distress Levels. On the other hand, persons who have a Low Susceptibility to
Stress may be less aware of danger and may not notice that something is different or amiss as a
hyper-vigilant, High Susceptibility to Stress person would.

7. Learning Preference
There are three basic Learning Styles and our preferential way is the one that is easiest for us. We learn in
all three ways, but when there is a choice, the one that is more natural, distinct, and clear will typically be
our preference. It will usually be our most effective way to experience and sharpen our learning skills.
Your Learning Preference – Physical (56)
Your profile indicates that your learning preference is Physical. You learn best by participating,
experimenting, or by watching someone show you how to do something. Often you may just start
doing something that you have never done before and you learn by “doing” or experiencing the
process. There are times when you figure something out without instructions, by jumping in and
“learning as you go”. You tend to learn by using all you senses, as well as through actual
involvement and hand-on activities. You probably easily grasp what you have seen and learn rapidly
and accurately.

Applying the Seven LIFE Languages™ ™
We encourage you to read, reflect, study, and review your KLLP™ carefully. The more you understand the
LIFE Languages™, the more ways you will find to apply them in your relationships. Typically, those who
have LIFE Languages™ similar to our own are initially easier for us to communicate and get along with.
However, learning to accept and understand the differences in each of the seven LIFE Languages™ can
bridge those differences in our Languages. Those very differences can often bring balance and strength to
relationships. Try to get together with others who have taken the KLLP™ to discuss and compare your
LIFE Languages™ in positive, constructive ways. You will find this to be a great adventure.
When interacting with those who have not taken the KLLP™, remember that the two most frequently
spoken LIFE Languages™ by both men and women are Responder (32% of the population) and Doer
(28%). Producers are 3% of the population. The other three LIFE Languages™ represent about 10%-13%
of the population. So until you get all your friends, family, and co-workers to take the KLLP™ for
themselves, if you speak to most people as though they were either Responders or Doers, you probably
will not be too far off.
Remember, Responders need unconditional acceptance, and Doers need approval for their
accomplishments and for you to do your share of the work. You will be amazed at the changes that will take
place if you simply address these two basic Filters and Needs in both children and adults in your life. They
will blossom!
Another way to help you understand the communication style of others who have not taken the KLLP™ is
try to determine their Category. Do they feel first (Emotive Category), think first (Cognitive Category), or act
(Kinetic Category) first? Do they say things like: “I feel that this just isn’t the thing to do,” or “I think that we
should consider...”, or “Let’s do it! Why stand around?” Once you have determined their Category, you can
respond accordingly.
Take It to the next level. Fred and Anna Kendall cover each of the seven LIFE Languages™ in depth in
their classic book, Speaking of Love. Learn how to recognize speakers of each of the LIFE Languages™
including their Distress Levels, how they might decorate their home and office, how they handle finances,
how they respond romantically and intimately and much more. Once you have determined a person’s
Primary LIFE Language,™ you can communicate with and inspire that person by responding to their
Passion or Developmental Need.
An Influencer working for a High Shaper was in danger of being fired for appearing unorganized. Although
she was producing good results, her boss thought she seemed too unpredictable. She began making a
consistent effort to meet the Shaper boss’s need for agreement and support through long-term planning,
projections, and documentation with timelines. Instead of being demoted, she received a salary increase.

She learned to speak his Language! At work A Mover Mom disciplined quickly and directly, often by
spanking her six-year old Responder son. He usually became hysterical, angry, and resentful. In addition,
her discipline was not changing his behavior. After reading Speaking of Love, this mother began
consistently providing the Responder child with unconditional acceptance and affection and showing
genuine grief when he misbehaved. Within 8 months, the child’s behavior was so improved that he would
confess and occasionally punish himself with time-out.
Keep in mind there are occasions when the KLLP™ may not seem to fully reflect the way you see yourself,
or the way others see you. One or more of the following reasons might explain why:
1. The person answering the questions experienced a recent trauma that impacted their answers.
2. The person answering the questions was doing a job that influenced their answers toward a profile
consistent with that job.
3. The person answering the questions slanted the answers deliberately toward how they want to be seen
or away from how they really are most of the time in most situations.
4. The person answering the questions has experienced a great deal of abuse in their life, and possibly has
not dealt with it.
5. The person answering the questions lacks the reading comprehension and/or vocabulary to choose the
answer that most fits them.
6. The person answering the questions does not know himself or herself in reality.
7. The person answering the questions went to one extreme or another—answering the questions with no
thought, or giving them too much thought—causing an inaccurate profile.
8. The person answering the questions did not answer them they way they are most of the time, most of
their life and in most situations.
These are vital to achieving an accurate KLLP™. Remember, your communication style, personality,
character, behavior, beliefs, and even your KLLP™ results are not etched in stone. Use the KLLP™ for
learning, growing, developing character, improving communication, and building relationships, By
approaching the KLLP™ as a learning - growth journey, you can be successful, enjoy life more, and
become all that you were created to be.
The KLLP™ Profile Circle
Your Primary Languages are your preferred communication style, but just as your lifestyle and behavior are
not static, neither are your seven LIFE Languages™. When your first or second Life Languages are not
connecting with someone, remember you have five other Life Languages that you can use.

The Profile Circle shows how you can pull up a lower Life Language to use in that situation. We believe that
you are designed to move up and down your LIFE Languages™ Portrait until you consciously or
subconsciously find the one that connects with that person, usually by speaking through their Filter. When
we are inflexible and stay in only one or two of our stronger Life Languages, we limit ourselves. Under
stress, you are most likely to exhibit the distress characteristics of your Primary Life Languages, but you
absolutely can learn to pull up on the strengths of your lower Life Languages to help compensate for those
situations. This helps you move out of stress and build character in your life. It is important to remember
that a high or low score in a given Life Language is neither better nor worse, but simply an indication of
your fluency and comfort in that Life Language. Picture your seven LIFE Languages™ on a rotating wheel
or carousel that you can turn and use to pull up the strengths of each and every LIFE Language to help you
better connect and communicate with others as well as get through stressful or difficult times in your life,
career, and relationships.

The Intensity score reveals the strength, energy and passion shown in communication. The higher the Intensity score, the higher the drive to communicate. High Intensity is often an indication of someone who will fight for their opinion to be considered and to exercise control, (whether directly or indirectly) and will do more to maintain communication and relationships. They may also be more prone to conflict. High Intensity persons tend to draw attention, which can create an image of an individualistic personality. Lower Intensity scores indicate those who generally do not compete to be heard, although they may have valuable contributions to make and are sometimes overlooked or ignored. The chart above gives your intensity on each language as well as your overall intensity. Language Intensity Each Life Language has it’s own individual intensity. The strength of the intensity score reveals the level of energy for that specific Life Language. In the final anaylsis, overall intensity score is more of a determinant on the forcefulness of an individual’s communication. Gap Gap is the distance between two different Life Languages. We measure the gap between the nearest two Life Languages. The greater the gap, the more effort it takes to move from one Life Language to the other. The smaller the gap, the easier it is to move between the two Life Languages. Your Accumulated Range: Low Your RANGE SCORE is considered LOW. The RANGE GAP between your primary and secondary language scores is considered LOW. Range is the difference between your Primary and Seventh Life Languages. A high or low score is neither better nor worse, though very meaningful. A High Range means that the individual tends to stand out in his or her Primary language and has a more definable behavior and communication style; however, that individual may have more difficulty communicating with those who speak his or her weaker languages.A Low Range may mean that the individual tends to communicate easily with all the languages, but may be less predictable and understandable to others, and sometimes even to themselves. This score indicates that you can choose to be self- disciplined when needed or to put aside tasks when appropriate, for example, when someone or a situation interjects itself. Maintaining a healthy balance in this area is probably relatively easy for you, and a goal all of us can seek. 4. Intrusion Level This scale measures how you see yourself handling interruptions, intrusions, interference, outside stimuli, people, or situations foreign to you, usually uninvited or unexpected. Intrusion Levels indicates how comfortable and tolerant you are with distractions and differences. Some people like a more structured environment, and others flow more easily with uninvited or unscheduled people or situations. For all of us, a good habit to form is the ability to gently or kindly communicate when intrusions become an issue. A Low Intrusion Level can help you to stay focused on tasks, but you may want to make sure you sincerely and gently express yourself without projecting a dismissive attitude that could be hurtful to another. 5. Projective Indicator This scale indicates how important other’s perception and opinion is to you. For example: a person with a high projective score could be greatly concerned if others had a less than positive opinion of them. A person with a low score would probably shrug it off and not let it bother them. A balance between high and low is valuable because it provides objectivity so that you can evaluate others attitudes about yourself and thereby remain teachable. Your Projective Level – High (70) A High Projective Level indicates that you desire for others to like you, and you expect favor. If that does not occur, then you want them to them to at least respect you. When you experience or perceive indifference, disrespect, or dislike, you are typically stressed and troubled. If it is not handled quickly and appropriately, it can become distress. A person with a High Projective Level generally tries hard to please others, and because of this, could be somewhat easier to motivate and a good employee. Those with High Projective Level must guard themselves to be sure they don’t try to please everyone, thereby, being subject to burn out and/or peer pressure. 6. Susceptibility To Stress This scale measures vulnerability to stress that comes into our lives. Stress is in all of our worlds, and comes from various sources, even from having too many good things going on at one time. We are more susceptible to stress when we are too busy, lacking sleep, not feeling well, fatigued, frustrated, lacking exercise, and even unable to express ourselves adequately. Failure to handle stress properly can cause us to move into one or more of the Distress Levels of our Life Languages. We can learn to recognize our stress and do what is necessary to de-stress. Distress, by Life Languages definition, is when you respond negatively to any situation.A key to avoid over reaction to stress and distress is H.A.L.T. Avoid stressful situation when your are: H-hungry, A-angry, L-lonely and T-tired. Your Susceptibility To Stress – Low (26) A low susceptibility to stress indicates that, when in stressful situations or when dealing with problems or crises you tend to remain calm rather than overly excited or even panicked. You most likely respond to challenging or unpleasant situations in a similar manner as you do under normal conditions. By allowing stress to pass over you, it is not likely to be a factor in causing you to descend into your Distress Levels. On the other hand, persons who have a Low Susceptibility to Stress may be less aware of danger and may not notice that something is different or amiss as a hyper-vigilant, High Susceptibility to Stress person would.

Learning Preference There are three basic Learning Styles and our preferential way is the one that is easiest for us. We learn in all three ways, but when there is a choice, the one that is more natural, distinct, and clear will typically be our preference. It will usually be our most effective way to experience and sharpen our learning skills. Your Learning Preference – Physical (56) Your profile indicates that your learning preference is Physical. You learn best by participating, experimenting, or by watching someone show you how to do something. Often you may just start doing something that you have never done before and you learn by “doing” or experiencing the process. There are times when you figure something out without instructions, by jumping in and “learning as you go”. The more you understand the LIFE Languages™, the more ways you will find to apply them in your relationships. Typically, those who have LIFE Languages™ similar to our own are initially easier for us to communicate and get along with. However, learning to accept and understand the differences in each of the seven LIFE Languages™ can bridge those differences in our Languages. Those very differences can often bring balance and strength to relationships. Try to get together with others who have taken the KLLP™ to discuss and compare your LIFE Languages™ in positive, constructive ways. You will find this to be a great adventure. When interacting with those who have not taken the KLLP™, remember that the two most frequently spoken LIFE Languages™ by both men and women are Responder (32% of the population) and Doer (28%). Producers are 3% of the population. The other three LIFE Languages™ represent about 10%-13% of the population. So until you get all your friends, family, and co-workers to take the KLLP™ for themselves, if you speak to most people as though they were either Responders or Doers, you probably will not be too far off. Remember, Responders need unconditional acceptance, and Doers need approval for their accomplishments and for you to do your share of the work. You will be amazed at the changes that will take place if you simply address these two basic Filters and Needs in both children and adults in your life. They will blossom! Another way to help you understand the communication style of others who have not taken the KLLP™ is try to determine their Category. Do they feel first (Emotive Category), think first (Cognitive Category), or act (Kinetic Category) first? Do they say things like: “I feel that this just isn’t the thing to do,” or “I think that we should consider...”, or “Let’s do it! Why stand around?” Once you have determined their Category, you can respond accordingly. Take It to the next level. Learn how to recognize speakers of each of the LIFE Languages™ including their Distress Levels, how they might decorate their home and office, how they handle finances, how they respond romantically and intimately and much more. Once you have determined a person’s Primary LIFE Language,™ you can communicate with and inspire that person by responding to their Passion or Developmental Need. An Influencer working for a High Shaper was in danger of being fired for appearing unorganized. Although she was producing good results, her boss thought she seemed too unpredictable. She began making a consistent effort to meet the Shaper boss’s need for agreement and support through long-term planning, projections, and documentation with timelines. Instead of being demoted, she received a salary increase.

At work A Mover Mom disciplined quickly and directly, often by spanking her six-year old Responder son. He usually became hysterical, angry, and resentful. In addition, her discipline was not changing his behavior. After reading Speaking of Love, this mother began consistently providing the Responder child with unconditional acceptance and affection and showing genuine grief when he misbehaved. Within 8 months, the child’s behavior was so improved that he would confess and occasionally punish himself with time-out. Keep in mind there are occasions when the KLLP™ may not seem to fully reflect the way you see yourself, or the way others see you. One or more of the following reasons might explain why: 1. The person answering the questions experienced a recent trauma that impacted their answers. 2. The person answering the questions was doing a job that influenced their answers toward a profile consistent with that job. 3. The person answering the questions slanted the answers deliberately toward how they want to be seen or away from how they really are most of the time in most situations. 4. The person answering the questions has experienced a great deal of abuse in their life, and possibly has not dealt with it. 5. The person answering the questions lacks the reading comprehension and/or vocabulary to choose the answer that most fits them. 6. The person answering the questions does not know himself or herself in reality. 7. The person answering the questions went to one extreme or another—answering the questions with no thought, or giving them too much thought—causing an inaccurate profile. 8. The person answering the questions did not answer them they way they are most of the time, most of their life and in most situations. These are vital to achieving an accurate KLLP™. Remember, your communication style, personality, character, behavior, beliefs, and even your KLLP™ results are not etched in stone. Use the KLLP™ for learning, growing, developing character, improving communication, and building relationships, By approaching the KLLP™ as a learning - growth journey, you can be successful, enjoy life more, and become all that you were created to be. When your first or second Life Languages are not connecting with someone, remember you have five other Life Languages that you can use.

We believe that you are designed to move up and down your LIFE Languages™ Portrait until you consciously or subconsciously find the one that connects with that person, usually by speaking through their Filter. When we are inflexible and stay in only one or two of our stronger Life Languages, we limit ourselves. Under stress, you are most likely to exhibit the distress characteristics of your Primary Life Languages, but you absolutely can learn to pull up on the strengths of your lower Life Languages to help compensate for those situations. This helps you move out of stress and build character in your life. It is important to remember that a high or low score in a given Life Language is neither better nor worse, but simply an indication of your fluency and comfort in that Life Language.
