1. Work Description
For my internship portfolio I decided to highlight my work in digital marketing
throughout my semester at the University of Illinois Community Credit Union. During my time
working in the marketing department I got the chance to work side-by-side with Lauren, the
Credit Union’s digital marketing specialist. She helped me to learn new skills on programs such
as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and apply these skills towards the company’s website and
Facebook page. Since a lot of my projects were based off my digital marketing skills, I wanted to
highlight them in my portfolio.
The first section of my portfolio focused on the promotional digital marketing through
the Credit Union’s Facebook page. During my time as an intern I was made one of the admins to
the Facebook page and was able to help post content and message members as part of the Credit
Union. My part of this section was helping to run two promotional contests throughout the
semester. During these promotional contests I had to pick a graphic, create the rules and
limitations of the contest, and help pick winners for the football tickets. Also, throughout the
contest I was in charge of checking the progress of the promotion to make sure viewers were
participating. The next assignment I was in charge of through Facebook was the member
testimonial project. For this project I typed up all of the member testimonials in Adobe Illustrator
and then displayed the testimonials on Facebook posts scheduled throughout the rest of the year,
on the website, and on the Codigo program that displays posts on the plasma screens at all three
branches.
The next section of my portfolio was dedicated towards my event work for Trick or
Treating With the Stars. This event was sponsored by several local companies and the U of I
girls basketball team. The companies came together to provide candy and activities for local
2. families for a day of fun for campus and the community. I helped to promote the event with a
flyer created by the Credit Union Marketing Department and posting the flyer on Facebook in
the weeks prior to the event. Along with my participation in the digital marketing side of the
event, I helped to run the event with the rest of the marketing department. I helped run errands
such as purchasing candy for the event, helping set up tables and chairs for the sponsors, picking
out a Halloween costume for the Credit Union to donate, and being at the event talk with the
community about the promotion the Credit Union had running. After the event was over I helped
with take down of all the booths and picked a winner for the contest.
The third section of my portfolio highlighted the two blog posts I wrote from the Credit
Union’s advice center. My first blog post was written on my tips for budgeting in college. I
started this blog post by writing down what I currently use to save money and then did additional
research. I wanted as much information as possible to write an extensive list of tips. I also altered
some of the tips online to fit the University of Illinois campus or applications that are used more.

The second blog post was written on the Credit Union’s new mobile application that can be used
to help members save time on paperwork. I started this blog post by interviewing Anthony, a
Credit Union employee who helped to create the blog post. In my interview I learned all about
the purpose of the blog post and why it was important for members. I then typed up our
interview in a formal blog post and helped collect screenshots to give the members visuals of
what to expect when using the app. This is the link for my second blog post on the website

The last section I displayed in my portfolio was for the market research project I worked
on for Kate the Credit Union’s Vice President of Affinity and Card Strategy. For this assignment
3. I was put in charge of researching different local and national credit cards. I looked at the
information that these credit cards had such as APR rates, fees, intro offers, rewards, and annual
fees. I reported this information into an Excel spreadsheet and gave the information to Kate. I
know this project will really help Kate as she moves forward with a new Visa program and can
help to give the best offers to our members, as well as stay competitive with other banks and
credit unions.
All in all these were the main projects I worked on during my time at the Credit Union
and what I thought was most important to feature in my intern portfolio. Overall I learned so
much from my time during the Credit Union and I believe this portfolio shows my growth as an
intern in the complexity of my projects. My internship portfolio can be viewed using this link
