2. Induction Process
Here at at Weeping Willow Design Studio we do
our best to make sure our new members of staff
feel at home from the very beginning.
3. Current Safety Procedures
We have marked the fire exits, and they are well
lit in the dark. We ask you to take it slow getting
out with no playing on your phone or tweeting.
If there is a medical situation we
ask that you please respect the
person/s and give them their
privacy while they are being
attended too by our fully trained
first aid officers.
4. Equipment safety checks
We have our technicians and safety staff check
equipment at the beginning of each month.
If you feel that your equipment or some
equipment in general is functioning as required
or may become a hazard you need to report it
ASAP. You can do so through emails, coming and
talking to the safety staff, or texting the help
desk to come see you and you may also have to
fill in a form.
5. Designated Safety representative
We have four Safety staff here. We hope you will
talk to them about anything that may trouble
you, our goal is a safe and happy workplace.

6. Current Workplace hazards
• RSI – Make sure you’re comfortable!
• Eye strain – If you have trouble focusing, take a break. We conduct eye tests every two years, so feel
free to have your eyes tested.
• Poor posture – Make sure you’re comfortable! We can’t stress this enough. If a part of your desk or
equipment is painful, tell us so we can find what works for you.
• Desk setup – If your desk and equipment isn’t positioned correctly, feel free to change it. Our safety
officers will help you with all your ergonomic requirements.
• Broken Equipment – If something is broken, we need you to report it. We don’t want someone to
suffer for it.
• CHECK THE MILK BEFORE YOU USE IT – We’re serious. If you want a nice coffee check to make sure
the milk is decent. There is a lot of long life milk in the staff room but if you prefer fresh then it’s
your responsibility to bring it and make sure to throw it out by the use by date. We don’t want a
plague on our hands.
• Watch for cords – Some people like to bring their own laptops in and work on those, we do have a
million power points here, but to be safe watch where you step.
• Keep your hair away from the printer feed – You wouldn’t believe how often this happens. You may
be a poster girl for Herbal Essence, but if you get it stuck in the printer you can say good bye to that
raunchy tv ad.
• Paper cuts. You’ll find a box of band aids in your top draw.
7. Describe a procedure for controlling
these risks
We ask that you just use common sense when
around the work place. If you’re having a
difficult time thinking clearly, feel free to see our
staff.
8. Describe a procedure for reporting
risks and incidents
We urge you to come see the safety officers, so
we can guide you through some forms.
Keeping everything on record and official is a
priority for us, incase we need to go back over
events or there are any claims regarding the
events.
9. Studio's meetings/ inspection and
consultative process for OH&S issues
As we’ve said before, we like to make sure
everything is working at the start of the month.
Before the inspections, meeting will take place
for you to voice any opinion on OH&S you may
have and how you think our offices will be a
safer, friendlier place.
If you would like to talk to someone privately
about an issue, you may do so at any time.
10. Describe the procedure for
emergencies
Incase of a fire – follow the signs to the fire exits. There
will be persons in fluro vests to assist you out of the
building.
In the even of violence or an attack – get under your
desks and phone 000. Running away may make you a
target for an attack.
In a medical emergency – contact a safety person
ASAP, all safety persons know first aid. We also train
employees in first aid but would prefer our safety staff to
take over the situation. We then ask you stay away from
the individual requiring first aid, they need privacy and
we need you to respect that.
11. Responsibilities of employers and
employees under relevant health
and safety legislation
We keep you informed and we keep you informed.
We will provide you with all the information we can
about anything you may need to know. You must
report to us any issues around the work place. If
you would like to research a little yourself we can
start you off with these sites:
http://www.safework.sa.gov.au/
http://www.wst.tas.gov.au/
12. Commonly used hazard signs and
safety symbols
When you see these signs, we ask you to please respect what the represent. When working
with these signs around you are putting yourself in some danger if you don’t take note.
Underneath each sign is a Safety data sheet and information about all the equipment and
Chemicals in that room. We ask that you read it thoroughly and if you have any questions to
ask them or talk to a safety representative if you are more that unsure or uncomfortable.
13. Resources related to OH&S National
Policies.
We keep all MSDSs up to date here. If you thing
the MSDS for a chemical or piece of equipment
doesn’t look right we urge you to contact Safety
right away.
