2. Biography
This is Greg Mottola. He was born on July 11, 1964 in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York,
USA. Mottola is 52 years old and of Irish and Italian decent. He has three children with
his wife Sarah Allentuch. Known as a director and producer, his most popular films
are Superbad made in 2007, Paul (2011) and Adventureland (2009). His first
successful film was The Daytrippers (1996). During school he received a BFA in art
from Carnegie Mellon University and MFA in film from Columbia University. Greg
Mottola is known for his coming of age films and creates these based on personal
experiences from his past. Adventureland was a reenactment of his time spent
working in the Adventureland park at Long island as a teen during a college summer.

3. Style
Mottola’s style throughout his movies is Comedy. The movies are usually about the
hero in the film trying to achieve his goal(a girl). There are always ups and downs but
eventually the hero succeeds in the end.
In the film Superbad there was more loud and direct humor whereas in the film
Adventureland it is more subtle. This shows that Mottola’s style differs based on the
mood or tone he would want to set for the film.

4. Actor Preferences
Mottola always seems to have the main character as a socially awkward type like in
Superbad(Michael Cera) or in the move Adventurelandm(Jesse Eisenberg) but the
most re-used actor in Mottola’s films is Bill Hader. Bill Hader is never one of the more
important characters but is usually a memorable one in the film. This sets the mood
as Bill Hader is known for his comedy as an actor.
