TINY HOUSE VILLAGE
(FEATURING THE POPULAR A BED OVER MY HEAD)
Tiny houses are all the rage these days. People are fascinated by
their creative design and intrigued by the minimalist lifestyle. Tiny
House advocate Beth Ann “BA” Norrgard is bringing her hand-built,
122-square-foot home to Fair Park. This year, she is bringing some of
her friends to form the first Earth Day Texas Tiny House Village.
UNTAPPED SUSTAINABLE BEER GARDEN
The Untapped craft beer and music festival’s Sustainable Beer
Garden at Earth Day Texas celebrates the shared commitment to the
community, the state, and the world. Highlighting beer companies
that champion environmentally responsible practices, the Beer
Garden is a place to relax, recharge, and realize the positive impact
that even the smallest of actions makes — yes, including having a
canned craft beer.
SAVOR DALLAS SUSTAINABLE FOOD MARKET
The Savor Dallas Sustainable Food Market celebrates a culinary
commitment to the community, the state, and the earth through the
proverbial breaking of bread. The market highlights chefs, restaurants,
and food vendors who are championing local ingredients, farm-to-
table fare, sustainability, and environmentally responsible practices.
EDTX MUSIC STAGE
Local Texas artists will take the stage to provide hours of entertaining
music all weekend long. Come to hear your favorite local musicians or
discover the next big thing right in your backyard.
Performers and bands include Kinky Friedman, Michael Martin
Murphey, Mountain Natives, Dallas Family Band, Jake Paleschic,
Telegraph Canyon, Matthew McNeal, Natural Anthem, The O’s, and
The Tontons.
EDTX FILM SERIES
Earth Day Texas believes strongly in the power of film to influence
hearts and change minds. Last year, EDTX hosted the Texas
premiere of the celebrated film Racing Extinction. In 2016, EDTX and
Enviromental Media Association are curating a film series of new
environmental documentaries to show all weekend.
Films in the series include Gardeners of Eden, Extinction Soup,
Consumed, How to Let Go of the World: And Love All The Things
Climate Can’t Change, Rooted in Peace, and Kombit: The Cooperative.
LUNG FORCE WALK
Every five minutes, a woman in the U.S. is told she has lung cancer.
The LUNG FORCE Walk raises awareness of serious health risks like
the frightening rise of lung cancer in women, the deadly disease
COPD, daily challenges faced by asthma sufferers, and the pollution
that threatens lungs and lives.
CONSERVATION THROUGH THE LENS ART EXHIBIT
This exhibit will incorporate short video and still photography to tell
the story of reforestation and native tree species in East Texas. The
project is a collaboration of Texas Conservation Alliance with artists
David Yancey, Fernando Rojas, and Larry Shelton.
