PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM
The front passenger air bag2 features a passenger sensing system.
It uses a sensor within the front passenger seat to detect the weight
of the occupant. Under a certain weight, the system automatically
turns off the air bag.
SIX AIR BAGS2
Acadia comes with six air bags:2 two front dual-stage air bags and
two side-impact air bags for the driver and front-seat passenger, and
head-curtain side air bags with rollover protection that function like a
protective curtain, unfolding from the roof rail on each side. Activated
by side-impact and rollover sensors, each curtain includes air bag
sections for outboard front, second-row and third-row passengers.
HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL CONSTRUCTION
Integral body-frame construction makes extensive use of ultra-high-
strength steel on primary load paths. It also uses dual-phase steel —
three times stronger than carbon steel — in key areas, taking advantage
of this material’s ability to absorb the energy of crash forces.
STABILITRAK STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM WITH TRACTION CONTROL
To keep you firmly in control, StabiliTrak is standard. It’s an engineering
advance designed to improve safety, stability and control on most road
surfaces. And that can mean a lot in an emergency maneuver. Sensors
read the position of your steering wheel, and the vehicle speed, brake
pressure, lateral acceleration and turning rate, then feed the data to an
onboard computer. If your Acadia is not responding adequately to your
