As part of the Rotary International campaign to eradicate polio, Purple4Polio, members of the Rotary Club of Leicester de Montfort planted more than 2500 purple crocus corms in Knighton Park on the morning of 25 November. The crocuses also provide a valuable source of early season nectar for pollinating insects. The crocus corm planting program is run in partnership with the Royal Horticulture Society.
