My research interests are located in community engagement and public libraries. Community engagement is an emerging area in the public librarianship research literature, and may be one way to help explain how public libraries can effectively involve local communities. As part of my Ph.D., I am using a qualitative approach, including interviews, observations and document analysis, to gain a deeper understanding of the “community engagement experience” which will provide unique insights into the elements that help make community engagement work in public libraries.
