happenstobe underneaththe artist’sname.Iusedthe settingof anelevatortocreate a quirkylook
for the albumas the ‘pop’genre iscommonfor beingunique whilstthe strongpose represents
strengthandpower.These qualitieswouldappeal tothe audience makingthemwanttobuythe
albumand givingthemaglimpse of whatkindof musicwill be onthe album.All of the fontusedon
the front coverof the CD iscolouredwhite asthisisthe colourthat stands outmost when
contrastingwiththe image.The style of fontusedfor‘Letit Roll’addsto the quirkinessof the album
withthe fontfeaturinginwhite boxesmakingitstandoutevenmore.The artistsname ‘Roar’
featuresasimplerfontwiththe ‘o’featuringadotinside makingitlookmore creative.Iuseda
simple blackbackgroundformyCD alongwithwhite textthatmakesitstand out. For the back cover
of mycreatedalbumI usedthe colourblackthenfadedit to white.The fade deteriorates fromfull
blackto white startingfromthe primaryoptical area.I decidedtoplace a barcode on the right inthe
weakfallow areaasthis iswhere the price will be.Thisisagood place to putthe barcode as itis the
lastplace the individual will lookmakingthemwanttobuythe albumthroughthe conventionsused
before seeingthe price.Theywill be more likelytobuythe albumthisway. The textusedisa serief
font.I have chosento use thisfontto make the albummore informal andappeal tothe audience.
The font isa conventionof the popgenre due to itsstyle.Makingmyancillaryproductmore realistic
I usedthe logos‘Universal’and‘ParkwoodEntertainment’andplaceditabove textthatwould
appearon any album. There issynergybetweenall three productsastheyall worktogetherkeeping
witha consistenthouse style.Conventionsof the popgenre have been usedsothatif the albumwas
made inreal life itwouldbe successful.
WhilstcreatingmyadvertI took the albumcoversimage andplacedit ontoan A4 document.The
documentIam usingis Adobe Photoshop.Photoshopallowedme toplace ablack backgroundonto
the image so that the textwasable to be seen.Iusedthe colour white stickingwiththe albums
house style andbecause itwouldstandouton a blackbackground. The pop genre isknownonthe
advertthroughthe textshowinga ‘young’ style thatwouldappeal tothe genre. Partof the text
remainssansserif makingitinformal andappealingtomyaudience of teenagersandyoungadults.
Howeverpartof the textisalsosans-serief asthe ‘cinema’effectof the advertisshown. The advert
and digipackare a demonstrationof synergyas the housetylehasremainedconsistentthroughout.
You wouldbe able totell thatthe advertisadvertisingthe albumautomatically throughthe album
itself beingshown andthe house style.
Synergyhasbeenagainused when comparingthe musicvideotothe advertanddigipack.Thisis
throughthe genresquirkiness.The abstractclipsof teenagershavingfunlinkintothe conventionsof
the pop genre.Thisincludesthe differentlocationsused whilstthe elevatorshotlinksintothe
abstract theme tothe video.The elevatorshotwouldbe classedasanabstract image howeverits
representationforthe albumthrough‘power’and‘strength’make itappropriate.
