2. MORNING
Industrial contribution to pollution (1)—
Showering- In showers, without chlorine filters there
could be the production of Chloroform, which could
effect the air quality and if enough is produced it
could effect humans.
Solution- Purchase a chlorine filter for the shower
head or purchase a chlorine water filter for the
whole home.
3. MORNING
Industrial contribution to pollution (2)—
Using the Air Conditioner during unnecessary
times. AC systems are not meant to be ran 24/7,
AC is one of the leading factors of bringing outdoor
air pollution directly into your home.
Alternative- Depending on the weather, keep
windows open throughout the morning and evening.
Once it begins to warm up the AC can be turned on.
4. MORNING
Industrial contribution to pollution (3)—
Aerosol Deodorant cans- This pollutant is
considered suspended particulate matter due to the
combination of a gas and a liquid. Also affiliated
with CFC’s.
Alternative- Use solid or roll on deodorant.
5. MIDDAY
Industrial contribution to pollution (1)—
Purchasing a drink from Buc-ees- The Styrofoam
cups, when wet, give off chemicals which effect the
environment. When being produced Styrofoam
cups produced CFC’s which contributes to ozone
depletion.
Solution- Use alternative, reusable, eco-friendly
cups.
6. MIDDAY
Industrial contribution to pollution (2)—
Drove truck to school- The burning of gasoline in
transportation is the leading cause of carbon
monoxide emission into the atmosphere.
Solution- Form a carpool or purchase a more fuel
efficient vehicle that burns less gasoline.
7. MIDDAY
Industrial contribution to pollution (3)–
Going to the supermarket- At the local grocery
stores, supermarkets, etc. the baggers put your
items in plastic bags. During the production of
plastic bags CFC’s are produced as well the
emission of oil burning pollutants (SO2, NO3, etc).
Alternative- Use reusable grocery bags instead of
plastic.
8. EVENING
Industrial contribution to pollution(1)–
Cooking Dinner- Cooking steaks on the grill with
charcoal and woodchips emits amounts of Nitrogen
Oxides into the atmosphere.
Alternative- Cook with natural gas or eco-friendly
charcoal.
9. EVENING
Industrial contribution to pollution (2)—
Lighting my home- Our electricity comes from a
coal burning power plant. When producing the
electricity the coal being burnt gives off large
amounts or Carbon Monoxides, Nitrogen Oxides
and Sulfur Dioxides.
Alternative- Switch to Solar Powered Energy
10. EVENING
Industrial contribution to pollution (3)—
Mothballs- Dichlorobenzene is a strong smelling
insect repellant used to repel moths, fight mildew,
and eliminate strong odors. This CFC is beneficial
towards humans but not towards the environment.
Solution- Take better care of your clothing and
materials. Also, use eco-friendly chemicals.
