1. Covenant of Marriage
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and
be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh”.
Genesis 2:22-23
This oneness takes patience, kindness, & much love to obtain, but it
is one of the most precious institutions God has created. When we
say “I do” or “I will” in our wedding vows, it is only the beginning of the
true oneness process that must take place in our marriages in order
to fulfill God’s perfect plan for our marriage. These two small
words yet profound in meaning, are the start of a life that humbly
submits; first to the Lord, then to our spouse, so that He will be able
to manifest Himself in and through our marriage.
Remember “Oneness” takes time and is a process, “With God all
things are possible” (Luke 1:37); for this is His will for every
marriage that invites Him in to their marriage ministry.
The success of marriage comes not in finding the “right” person, but in
the
ability of both partners to adjust to the real person they ineveitably
realize they
married.
John Fischer
Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly
understood that they are on the same side.
Zig Ziglar
2. Common courtesy plays a big role in happy marriages. People who are
permanently married are polite to one another. They don’t want to hurt
one another’s feelings, and they don’t try to make the other one feel
humiliated. People who are married for life are extremely kind to one
another.

To get divorced because love has died, is like selling your car
because it’s run out of gas.

The ulitmate test of a relationship is to disagree but to hold hands.

What counts in making a happy marriage is not so much how
compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility.
Leo Tolstoy
I think a man and a woman should choose each other for life, for the
simple reason that a long life with all its accidents is barely enough
time for
a man and a woman to understand each other and. . . to understand – is
to love.
William Butler Yeats
The first duty of love is to listen.

We are a work in progress with a lifetime contract.

The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or
church or synagogue. It’s a choice you make – not just on your
3. wedding day, but over and over again – and that choice is reflected in
the way you treat your husband or wife.
Barbara De Angelis
A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ come together. It is
when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Love one another and you will be happy. It’s as simple and as difficult
as that.
Michael Leunig
A happy marriage is the union of two good forgivers.
