thoroughlyenjoyed.Usual merchanttaskswhenyouryoung,serving& gettingtoknow the installers
but alsogettingtoknoweveryproductinside out.Goingontrainingcoursestoadvance your
capabilityinunderstandinghow&whyproductswork.Givingyoufull confidence inselling
somethingisaplusand whenyouknowyouare goodat it,so doyour customerswhichgivesthem
confidence inyou.Movingon& afterover20 yearsof givingmy"all"withinthe merchantside.I
decidedtomove on& developmysalesskills&techniqueswithinthe manufacturingsector.Not
onlydidthismove expandmyenthusiasmforbelievinginindividual productsinamuch smaller
portfolio,whichallowedme toconcentrate more thoroughlyinwhatIwas selling,Italsogave me
the opportunitytovisitcustomersmuchfurtherafield.Scotlandinparticularwithmyprevious
positionof AreaSalesManagerwitha central heatingmanufacturer.Idecidedafternearly14years
withthem,againwhichl thoroughlyenjoyed,itwastime tomove onfor my ownpersonal reasons.I
chaseda role whichI thoughtI had clinchedbutitwasn'tto be.I have now unfortunatelyputmyself
inthe positionof being"inbetweenjobs"("Onthe dole")isthe commonphrase.One niggle Ido
have witha fewjobrecruitingagenciesisthattheysee myCV and automaticallyassume thatIwill
onlybe good at sellingproductswhichIhave recentlysold.TotallyunderstandableandIappreciate
theywantto get the rightcandidate infrontof a prospective employer.Butone canonlyfitso much
informationonone'sCV withoutboringthe livingdaylightsoutof thatprospective employer.Inmy
merchantsdayswe stockedinexcessof 30,000 productsand I can tell youI had learnedahell of a
lotof those productsoverthe years.In a nut-shell, if anagencyputsme forwardinfrontof a
prospective employer towho’sproductsi know i couldsell, andIlike andbelievein theirproducts
whichare sound andof excellentquality,Iwill give them100% of mytotal loyalty,commitment and
experience tothemandmake sure I become a very valuable assettotheircompany.
