11/2004 – Present Baxter BioScience / Baxalta, Thousand Oaks, CA
Principal Engineer – Process Control Department
Current duties include project management, programming, and system administration for
two of the facility manufacturing suites, consisting of a Modicon and WonderWare
InBatch SCADA system. Previous duties included project management, programming,
and system administration for all plant utilities and waste neutralization systems,
including the WonderWare / Allen Bradley SCADA system and Siemens Apogee / Insight
Building Automation System. Included in this is authoring and / or updating System
Specification documents and Standard Operating Procedures as well as designing,
authoring and executing modifications and test plans for any work done on these
systems.

Consulting Engineer
Assignment at Baxter BioScience in Thousand Oaks, California. My duties included
project management, generation of S.O.P. documents, generation and execution of
validation documents (IQ, OQ & PQ) and test plans, as well as documents such as
Functional Specifications, User Requirements and Standard Operating Procedures. I was
assigned to several projects associated with bringing systems into compliance with the
FDA’s 21 CFR, Part 11 requirements and project lead on the G.E. Fanuc Manager System.
4/2002 – 10/2002 BanzigerBanks Inc., Vacaville, CA
Project Engineer
Duties included PLC, SCADA and HMI Validation protocol development and execution in
both biotech and pharmaceutical environments. Experienced at working in cGMP and
GAMP environments.
I was the project lead on a DCS Server upgrade project for a major pharmaceutical
company which included specifying equipment as well as generation of new drawings
and documentation as well as the modification of existing drawings and documents.
Projects included modifying and validating a Klockner blister pack machine that needed
to be configured to fill and package trans-dermal medications for a Northern California
pharmaceutical co.
10/2000 – 4/2002 Bay-Tec Engineering, Napa, CA
Control Systems Engineer
Duties included designing HMI screens, control modules and phase modules for a CIP
system for a Bay Area Biotech company. This project was built around the Emerson
DeltaV DCS controller, which uses an embedded Intellution iFix interface. The project
was designed to S88 batch specifications. This position also included the generation and
execution software of test plans, validation protocols (IQ, OQ and PQ) and software
design descriptions.

On another project I developed SCADA HMI screens and SLC control modules for a
pharmaceutical company’s HVAC system with Allen Bradley SLC 5/04 processors
interfacing with a Wonderware HMI/SCADA package. The HVAC SCADA system was
successfully integrated into the existing industrial network. The screens and pop-ups
were designed with scripting in place to easily migrate additional air handling units as
they were transferred from the obsolete Carrier system.
8/1997 - 10/2000 Real Enterprise Solutions, Rancho Cordova, CA
Control Systems Engineer
While I was with this company I worked in many capacities, including project manager
for Bayer Biotechnologies Y2K compliance project for both the Berkeley, California and
Clayton, North Carolina facilities. As Project Manager I was responsible for budgets,
personnel and project schedules, presentations to Bayer staff, generation of compliance
documentation, and creation of compliance tests when compliance documentation was
not available for a piece of equipment.
The integration projects that I was involved in primarily used Allen Bradley PLC 5
processors and Rockwell Software's RSView32 or Intellution SCADA software. My duties
also included maintaining and modifying and validating Allen Bradley Panelview HMI’s
using Rockwell Software’s Panelbuilder software.
On a special project I helped to develop Visual Basic code that used OPC to extract data
from an Allen Bradley PLC5 into an MS Access database via RSLinx.
7/1995 - 8/1997 Pacific Grain Products, Woodland, CA
Lead Programmer / Maintenance Electrician
I was the lead programmer for the Allen Bradley PLC 5's and the Intellution SCADA
system. There were several touch screen HMI's in the system that I was responsible for
as well. My duties also included electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting
and repair of plant equipment including variable frequency drives, proximity switches,
rotary valves, blowers and motor control centers.
While in this position I devised, designed installed and documented an ambient light
monitoring system that sensed the amount of light coming in through the skylights and
would turn off banks of H.I.D. lighting when the ambient light was sufficient.
MISCELLA NEOUS
I have installed and calibrated flowmeters, impact weighers and many other field
instruments and sensors. In all my positions I have always enjoyed the “hands-on” part
of the job as well as the programming. I am currently upgrading the legacy hardware of
two manufacturing suites.

by Sperry Univac.

through Allen Bradley programming school in order to improve my skills in the
automation field.)
