3. Why Is Health and Safety Important in the
Workplace?
Health and safety in the workplace is important
because no one wants to be hurt, or made sick by the
work they do, preventing injuries and illnesses in the
workforce saves the company money.
 Health and safety is important because it aids to prevent and
identify hazards at work, assess risk and ensure risk control
measures. It also helps avoid the financial costs of accidents
that can be prevented.

4.  Health and safety in the workplace is very important because it
is one of the ways to keep employees motivated.
 The productivity of the organisation will also automatically
increase when employees know that their environment is safe.
With a safe environment, employees will only have to worry
about giving their best

5. Understand the risks. Being acquainted with the
particular hazards of your job or workplace, will enable
you take steps to reduce your risk of work-related
injury or illness
Take regular breaks. Staying fresh and alert will help
you avoid injury or burnout. Schedule the most difficult
tasks of each day for times when your concentration is
best, such as first thing in the morning.

6. Observe and practice the safety procedures
established for the job.
Reduce workplace stress. long hours, heavy
workload, job insecurity and conflicts with coworkers
or bosses can cause stress. This can lead to
depression, sleeping difficulties and problems with
concentration.

7. Avoid stooping or twisting. Use ergonomically
designed furniture and equipment or rearrange your
work area in a standard that fits purpose.
Talk over any concerns. Report hazards and risks to
your supervisor, facility manager or human resources
personnel

8. Stay sober. Alcohol and drugs are a contributing
factor in around 3% of workplace fatalities.
