Robotic Systems Technology A.S. Degree Program
Electro Mechanical Option
Oakland Community College
Auburn Hills, Michigan
The Robotic Systems Technology Programs is an Associate Degree in
Applied Science and is designated as an Extended Associate
Program. The completed program is 72 hours of class and lab time.
The program prepares one for opportunities within the robotic and
automation fields. It also prepares one to meet the professional
certification standards set forth by the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers. This is a 3 year A.S. program.
The Electro-Mechanical Robotics Technician option of the program
provides the student with instruction in electronic theory, robotic
and automation systems, electrical circuit analysis. Computer
numerical control, microprocessors, controllers, electrical
maintenance, component testing, and servicing techniques for
robotic and automation devices. The study of transmission of fluids
including the controls, design, application, service and maintenance
2. of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The testing and
servicing of servo systems, pumps, and compressors.
Robotics Technicians install, service, troubleshoot, maintain, and
repair automated equipment. When employed in manufacturing,
technicians assist engineers in the design, testing, and application
of automated systems. The technician must operate in conjunction
with the customer, the design and application engineer, as well as
maintenance personnel in the installation and servicing of the
automated robotic system.
