Supercharge your branding with Stylescapes! Stylescapes are an awesome way to first visualize your art direction before diving in to your design project. But like any design deliverable there is a science to making them presentable, and that’s what I’m sharing with you today. What’s a stylescape? A stylescape is a design deliverable that helps to present the visual direction of a project. This is accomplished by searching for pre-existing design works such as graphics, logos, etc. that share a similar art direction, and combining them into one large graphic. Another thing to note as that Stylescapes are not moodboards. A moodboard is similar to a stylescape in terms of how one would use it, but moodboards focus on the brand’s identity and assets being portrayed instead of sample images pulled from online that share a similar art direction. Stylescapes are to find out what direction to go in initially, moodboards are used to continue in that direction. Moodboards are also more expressive and clear of who the brand is and what they are trying to do as well as who they are marketing to. To make your stylescape more presentable, I’ve included a sample of a basic stylescape structure to explain how the content should be organized. One big formatting rule is to make sure that it implies a sense of perspective. Starting with small things, and gradually moving up to larger design elements.
