It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for one of my former
employees; Mr. Joshua Hughes.
I am a Park Ranger with the state of Maryland and have known Joshua Hughes for two
years. He began working for me as a Seasonal Tollbooth Attendant at Point Lookout
State Park, located in Scotland, Maryland in the spring of 2014. Josh’s duties included
cash handling, credit card transactions, and public relations, providing tourist
information, traffic control and departmental radio usage among other responsibilities. He
demonstrated a strong work ethic; his attendance was exceptional and is job performance
was constantly improving.
In the spring of 2015 Josh was rehired as a Tollbooth Attendant and began cross
training for the Camp Office. His duties at the Camp Office included customer service;
checking campers in, registering campground visitors, monitoring campground security
and safety issues, trouble shooting and problem solving, departmental radio usage; radio
dispatch, concession sales, firewood sales and providing detailed explanations of
campground rules and regulations. Josh once again stepped up to his new duties with
enthusiasm and curiosity. He displayed an honest interest in the operational aspects of
the Camp Office and became an intricate part of the Camp Office team.
Mr. Hughes has proven to me to be asset to the Park. I would recommend him for any
position that he aspires for.
