Parish and town councils can play an important role in their local communities by engaging residents, understanding local issues, and helping deliver services. They are well-positioned to lead community planning efforts around priorities like renewable energy projects, affordable housing, broadband access, and preserving footpaths and cycleways. While legislation, rigid processes, and lack of support can hinder local delivery by councils, empowering communities can help address local needs in a tailored, cost-effective manner.
