2. Bobrowniki
Bobrowniki is a village in Poland situated in Silesian
Voivodeship, in Będzin County, in the Bobrowniki
Municipality.
The western border of Bobrowniki - with Piekary Śląskie,
based on the Brynica River - is the historical border
between Zagłębie Dąbrowskie and Silesia.
The official date of the village foundation is 1273.
However, the village existed from around 1057.

3.  The village is of medieval origin and has been mentioned
since the 13th century. It is mentioned in 1277 as
Villarum Bobrovnyk, 1443 Bobrowniky, 1787 Bobrowniki.
 The name "Bobrowniki" comes from the servile role of
the inhabitants of this village. The Royal Reserve of
Beavers stretched from the Brynica River to the Czarna
Przemsza River and was looked after by the inhabitants
of Bobrowniki.
 To distinguish the village from Bobrowniki located in
nearby Tarnowskie Góry the name Bobrowniki
Będzińskie is sometimes used.

8. The history of Bobrowniki
Bobrowniki is a village with a very interesting
and colourful history, its more important dates
include:
 1273 - the location of the village,
 1669 - establishment of the St. Lawrence
Chapel
 1864 - the creation of the Bobrowniki
commune.

9.  The name indicates that the inhabitants of the settlement
performed the function of breeders, keepers and hunters
of beavers, which belonged to the prince or king.
 In 1848 the Bobrowniki municipality was established,
comprising the villages of Bobrowniki, Sączów,
Siemonia, Żychcice, Wojkowice Komorne, Strzyżowice,
Psary and Łagisza.

10.  During this period, one school (a two-classroom school)
was established, in which Russian was taught until 1910.
And in 1916 a seven-class school was opened. In 1911 a
voluntary fire brigade was established in the village,
which still exists today.
 During the Second World War the German name of the
village was in use: Biberland.

 The only monument in the
village is the wooden St.
Lawrence Church from the
19th century.

12.  The Bobrovnik church is a rare example of a two-
towered wooden church.
 It was built as a log structure on a brick foundation; the
external walls are boarded and the roof is covered with
sheet metal.
 The church is oriented.

13.  The church is located on the trail of wooden architecture
of the Silesian Voivodeship.
 The interior is in Baroque style.
 In the main altar there is a double image: of St.
Lawrence, sliding with a second image of Our Lady of
Grace.

14.  In the windows there are stained glass windows
depicting the Four Evangelists, made in 1977 according
to the design of the artist Pospieszalski from
Częstochowa.
 In addition, the church has oil paintings of Our Lady
Queen of the Holy Rosary, the Suffering Lord Jesus and
St Joseph with Child.

15. Celebration of 735 years of
Bobrowniki village
 The year 2008 marked the 735th anniversary
of Bobrowniki village. As a result of the
celebrations, the church authorities and
residents led to the renovation of the towers
of the wooden church, which is the biggest
symbol of the village in the region.

23. Fauna
The fauna of Bobrowniki is quite diverse. Due to the
presence of a lot of green areas and fields in Bobrowniki
you can easily meet:
 Deer
 Pheasants
 Partridges
 Grasshoppers a bit more difficult.
There used to be beavers here, but they were wiped out in
the 16th century.
