The Challenge< >
In order to accommodate modern demand, Marriott required an interactive web-based career services
suite in order to provide its burgeoning global salesforce access to career planning and advancement
tools that could be supported on any desktop or mobile platform. This website would not only be a
resource library of information, but also host the Guiding Rewarding Opportunities (GRO) Career
Discovery Tool, a fully-interactive logic based career mapping tool. Marriott was in need of offerings
that could be supported on any mobile platform. While a challenging project, Marriott recognized Blue
Water’s excellence from years of collaboration on numerous projects, and with that instilled confidence
Marriott selected Blue Water to carry out the work.

The Results< >
Marriott and Blue Water worked in tandem to create a strategy for communicating the full offerings of
the GRO portal on a digital platform. Blue Water presented a new outline for the main site accompanied
with a new site architecture plan that provided cohesiveness and improved user experience among
users and stakeholders. Our design experts produced multiple screenshots and wireframes until Marriot
was completely satisfied with the end result. Upon completing the requirements for the main site,
Blue Water again utilized the efforts of our design and programing experts to implement a custom
career aggregating tool with its own unique logic, otherwise known as the Career Discovery Tool, into
the Drupal CMS. This site is currently live on the web being utilized to bring opportunity into the hands
of Marriott.
Since launch in December 2014, the Marriott Gro portal has had 3,567 sessions with 2,715 users
(all Marriott employees from around the world) and 16,233 page views with an average session
duration of 3:57.
