systemsGo Corporation s Business Challenge
In early 2013, a systemsGo client required assistance to establish a Singapore office as their
new headquarters. The client is a hedge fund with existing offices elsewhere in the Asia Pacific
region and relocated their HQ to Singapore for strategic business reasons. With limited in-
house IT expertise, the hedge fund needed a partner to ensure their IT systems would be in
place to support their operations on the day they moved into the new premises. Furthermore,
the client had an aggressive timeline, strict budget, and required high availability, reliability, and
performance, including low latency connectivity from the desktop to the key application
servers.
Reason for Selecting KVH Services
To address the client s broad range of IT infrastructure needs, KVH was selected for its high-
performance, redundant data center environment, and ability to collaborate as a true partner
by structuring a set of data center and network services at the right price point to the end
users needs. systemsGo dealt with KVH Singapore, a very receptive team that worked with
systemsGo consultants to develop a solution strategy utilizing a colocation facility to host high-
spec servers and fully redundant, virtualized Windows environment as a private cloud,
supporting their critical business applications.
KVH and systemsGo collaborated to offer an integrated solution that enabled faster time to
market and the business agility to progressively migrate applications from the existing HQ to
the new Singapore facility in virtualized form with the ability to create test and parallel
operation environments impossible with the limitations of physical servers and conventionally
application licenses. The cloud approach allowed the systems to scale in line with anticipated
business expansion and seasonal peaks.

2. Client Solution
systemsGo collaborated with KVH to leverage the strengths of both organizations and deliver a
customized and integrated solution that met the needs of the customer.
KVH Colocation
KVH provided secure and highly available data center facilities to minimize the footprint of
the backend IT systems at the systemsGo client s office. Significant savings and reduction
in complexity in the office IT build out were realized at the client s office with KVH s
colocation services. The colocation approach provided a more secure site to host the
private cloud and other system assets.
KVH Network Connectivity
Voice and data networks in Singapore were installed to provide connectivity between the
office and the data center with redundant links configured with automatic failover
functionality. KVH delivered the primary point-to-point circuit between the KVH data center
and the systemsGo client s office and the primary Internet connection at the data center. A
secondary point-to-point link and Internet circuit terminate at the client s office to ensure
redundant access to applications hosted in the private cloud.
KVH Private Cloud
systemsGo designed and implemented a Private Cloud solution for the client based on
VMware technologies, providing the virtual instances to host Exchange, VoIP, Speakerbus,
Tamale and web servers. Storage and backup requirements were managed by an
enterprise-level cloud-based solution, enabling disaster recovery and business continuity.
Email Migration
To minimize the risk associated with a direct migration from the customer s old mail
servers to a Microsoft Office365 Exchange in the Cloud solution, a highly available,
virtualised Exchange server was installed in the data center as a temporary measure in
order to perform a controlled migration to Exchange. Once the migration was complete,
the Exchange Server and mail storage were smoothly migrated to Office365.
