2. WHAT IS A DRUG ?
• Any substance whether natural or synthetic that stimulates,
depresses or irritates specialized cells.
• Any substance that brings about physical, psychological and
behavioural changes in person taking it.
• Two Types
• Pharmacological drugs
• Recreational drugs

3. WHAT IS A DANGEROUS DRUG
• Drugs that have high tendency for abuse and dependency
• These substances may be organic or synthetic, and pose harm to
those who use them.

4. • DRUG ABUSE – Non permissive consumption of certain substance
that may lead to physical and psychological dependence
• DRUG ADDICTION – Repeated, compulsive seeking and use of a drug
or related substances despite physical, mental and social
consequences
• DRUG DEPENDENCY – This is the state of physical and psychological
dependence, or both, on a dangerous drug, or drugs, experienced by
a person following the use of that substance on a periodic or
continuous basis

5. • DRUG TOLERANCE - Increasing of dosage of drugs to maintain the
desired effects of the drugs
• DRUG WITHDRAWAL - refers to the period from the point of drug
dependence up to the point when the drug dependent is totally or
gradually deprived of the drug
