The Mid-Autumn Festival
falls on the 15th day of the
8th lunar month, usually in
October.
The round shape to a Chinese
means family reunion,
therefore the Mid-Autumn
Festival is most romanticized
in China as a day of family
reunion and a festival with
friends.

Since ancient times, China has had many fairy tales and legends about the moon, among which
the most famous is “Chang’e Flying to the moon”.
Chang’e was the wife of Houyi in ancient Chinese myths. Legend has it that she swallowed an
elixir stolen from the Grand Old Lady of the West, became an immortal and flew to the moon
palace.

The Mid Autumn Festival is the
most elegance and romantic day.

Bobing (Mooncake Dice Game, a game in which six dice are thrown into a bowl and the
different combinations of numbers result in different scores and prizes) is a unique
festive activity in Xiamen during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
It has been kept as a Mid-Autumn tradition by the locals for hundreds of years,
forming part of the city's particular mooncake culture.
According to the rules, there are usually between five and ten people at a Bobing
table, and the top prize, "Zhuangyuan with a golden flower", is achieved by rolling four
red fours and two red ones.

Bobing is a highly enjoyable game
as people roll dices for good luck.
The locals believe that someone
who rolls a Zhuangyuan (the top
prize) will enjoy a year of good
fortune.
It explains why the Xiamenese
place so much importance on the
Mid-Autumn Festival, some even
regarding it as more important
than Spring Festival.
