ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Responsibilities
• Consult about departmental activities with leadership to stay on target and meet all
deadlines
• Direct reports to Black Women Playwrights’ Group (BWPG) Board of Directors and Young
Playwrights’ Theater (YPT) Artistic Director
• Handle meeting logistics and travel arrangements for meetings for up to 25 participants
• Responsible for on-the-job training for staff, interns, and volunteers
IntradepartmentalResponsibilities
• Prepare BWPG annual budget as well as monthly reconciliation of books, and annual
preparation of 990 and 1099’s with accountant
• Logistical planning for multi-day conferences including catering, meeting spaces,
brochures, web site pages, agendas, speakers and participants, and travel
• Work with BWPG Committees to plan and execute projects and initiatives
• Lead monthly meetings of BWPG members and act as lead on all writing projects
• Responsible for Salesforce database and training staff in data entry and reports
Interagency Responsibilities
• Arrange funder site visits to administrative offices and organizational events
• Meet with program officers including the Dreyfus Foundation, the Jaylee and Gilbert
Mead Foundation, and the Cafritz Foundation
• Meet with the national funders including the Ford Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, and
the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
•Thoroughly master multiple foundation, government, and university guidelines to facilitate
project management.
2. • Write interim and final reports for all BWPG and YPT projects as well as for such agencies
as the Children and Youth Investment Trust and the Neighborhood Investment Fund
that required mastering monthly online reporting systems.
• Write request for proposals (RFPs) for technology consultants for BWPG Cyber Narrative
Project and a YPT evaluation firm for in-school programs. Managed purchase of major
equipment such as the YPT bus
• Monitor BWPG registration and renewal with agencies such as System for Awards
Management (SAM), National Endowment for the Arts, DC Department of Regulatory
Affairs as well as professional organizations such as the Theater Communications Group
and the Dramatist Guild
MAJOR PROJECTS
• BWPG Cyber Narrative Project, which includes theaters and playwrights nationwide and
technology departments at universities such as Carnegie Mellon, MIT, and George
Mason University
• The BWPG First National Meeting of Women of Color Writing Drama at Loyola University
• Produced professional performances of Young Playwrights’ Theater students plays for the
Close Up Foundation
