4. Early Life
He began kicking football when he was three.
His passion for sport was obvious so he quickly
joined an amateur team when he was just eight .
He started real professional football when he moved
to Nacional top second division team.
After he won the title with Nacional he went for a
three day trial in Sporting Lisbon one of the top
teams in Portugal.
5. Manchester United
Ronaldo was signed for a fee of £12.24 million,
becoming the club's first ever Portuguese player.
His first season was a big success as he the special
young player of the year award.
In 2006 he was improved by scoring more and
creating more chances to his team mates.
In 2006/2007 season he scored 20 goals and won the
PFA player’s player of the year and PFA young player
of the year awards.
6. The incredible season
In 2007/2008 Ronaldo started the season strong
enough to show how fast he is developing.
In December 2007 it was announced that he came in
third in the FIFA world player of the year award.
In January 2008 he brought his total goals to 26 which
is hard for strikers to make in an entire season.
Ronaldo kept impressing everyone by succeeding to
advance with his team to the champions league final
and being top of the EPL.
He ended this remarkable season by scoring 42 goals
and wining the double both the champions league and
the EPL. He also won the European golden boot for his
goals.
7. International Career
Ronaldo had previously played for Portugal at the 2002 UEFA
European Under-17 Championship and at the U18 and U21 level.
He eventually made his full international debut in August 2003. In
Euro 2006 he wanted to put a smile on the fans face so he gave
his best in this tournament as it was hosted by Portugal, but
unfortunatley they made it all the way to the final and lost to
Greece in a surprising loss.
Ronaldo scored his first World Cup goal against Iran with a
penalty kick in 2006 and they made a decent performance in this
tournament by reaching the semi finals but falling short to France.
