I had a dual role at the NCEC. I was responsible for the work required to manage and
register chemical substances under the REACH legislation on behalf of our clients
worldwide. The second aspect of my role involved providing support to the
Emergency Response team who provide crucial advice to the emergency services,
chemical companies and the general public in chemical emergencies.

As an Emergency Responder I took part in a 24/7 rolling shift system and provided
safety critical chemical advice to the Emergency services, chemical companies and
general public during emergency situations. As well as providing emergency support
I was the project manager for the Hazmat conference (a national conference held
annually for the emergency services to discuss developments in incident management
techniques). My position also involved providing external training courses in the
Globally Harmonised Systems (GHS) and its implementation through the
Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) regulation.

My assignment was to the early development group within the Department of
Pharmaceutical and Analytical Research and Development.
The work I undertook was focussed on fully automating the formulation process
using a TECAN liquid handling robot, and with the ultimate aim of a high-throughput
approach to analysing new potential drugs.

analytical techniques to determine solutions to several projects. I also liaised with
