To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to recommend to you Katie Nimtz, a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor
Society, the oldest, most prestigious and largest honor society serving two-year
colleges around the world. Katie was inducted into the Sigma Psi Chapter of Phi Theta
Kappa while attending Southwestern Michigan College. To be invited to membership in
Phi Theta Kappa, Katie Nimtz earned high academic standing with a class rank in the
top 10%. Phi Theta Kappa requires members to maintain high academic standing for
the duration of enrollment at the two-year college.
Phi Theta Kappa was established in 1918 by two-year college presidents. The Society’s
mission is two-fold: 1) to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of
two-year college students and 2) provide opportunities for individual growth and
development through honors, leadership and service programming. Membership in the
Society reflects scholarship, discipline, determination, and an innate desire to succeed.
Active involvement demonstrates servant leadership, communication skills, and
emerging leadership talent.
Since its founding, Phi Theta Kappa has inducted more than 3 million members and
chartered 1,285 chapters located in all 50 states and in U.S. territorial possessions,
Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the
Federated States of Micronesia, the British Virgin Islands, the United Arab Emirates,
and Peru.
Katie has been a member of Phi Theta Kappa since 2013. She was elected as our
chapter President for the 2014-2015 academic year. Katie has been a very active
President in organizing all 200+ Sigma Psi members through Facebook and emails,
overseeing chapter meetings, approving minutes, planning chapter events, and
delegating fellow officers with specific duties. Katie has led her fellow PTK officers and
members with the upmost highest energy and collaboration talents.
Sincerely,
Colleen Welsch
