8. Corn Bread
• Darryl McCray
known by his name
“Cornbread” is a
graffiti artist from
Philadelphia,
credited with being
the first modern
graffiti artist.
9. Taki 183
He was one of the most
influential graffiti writers in
its history. His “tag” was
short for Dimitraki, and the
number 183 came from his
address on 183rd Street in
Washington Heights.
The graffiti tag in the 1985
film Turk 182 was inspired
by Taki 183.
10. Shepard Fairey
• Frank Shepard Fairey is an
America street artist,
Graphic designer and
illustrator who emerged for
the skateboarding scene.
• He is well known for his
‘Andre the giant has a
posse’ (OBEY) campaign.
• He is also widely known
during the 2008
presidential election for his
Barack Obama “Hope’
poster.
