ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
Richard J. Daley College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois
Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, 2010-Present
Accountable for 56% of college budget, $30 million; Oversee an academic team of 3 Deans, 3 Associate Deans, 2
Directors, 6 Managers, and 8 Department Chairs, 57 full-time Instructors, 128 Adjuncts, 100 Adult Educators,
1 Coordinator and 1 support staff.
Responsibilities:
As the Chief Academic Officer, with annual student enrollment over 17,000, plan and oversee operation, staffing, and
budgeting needs of the college, as it relates to Academic and Student Affairs. This includes carrying out the duties of the
President in his absence; setting priorities, assigning work, monitoring progress and evaluating results of all academic
programs and student services at the College; overseeing activities of the college academic and student programs through
the supervision of the deans, including student, faculty and staff retention and development efforts; and managing the
evaluation of 25% of the college credit faculty and 25% of the college programs on an annual basis; determining the college
credit class schedules each term; developing and monitoring the academic department and academic support budgets,
while monitoring expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget; designing and implementing curriculum and instruction;
developing, administering, and reviewing assessment procedures and results; and adhering to collective bargaining
agreements with appropriate unions.
Accomplishments:
 Wrote the college’s self-study report for the 2011 Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Visit and the 2015
assurance argument for the mid-cycle review.
 Assisted the college in securing a ten-year accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and maintaining
eligibility for the open pathway.
 Developed and implemented a developmental education initiative that is successful in drastically improving
remediation and increasing student enrollment in college math and English. One year after program
implementation, the student cohort demonstrated the following successes:
o Remedial students, one and two courses below college English, increased the completion rate of the first
college-level English course by 22%.
o Remedial students, one and two courses below college math, increased their completion rate of the first
college-level math course between 16% and 33%.
 Developed and oversaw plan, activities and expenditures for the Carl Perkins CTE grant of over $400,000.
 Developed and implemented a 4-credit hour course grid and class schedule procedure that allows for more efficient
offerings and links course scheduling to enrollment projections.
 Developed new programs in Child Development and IBEW which assisted the college in increasing the IPEDS
completion rate from 8% to 22%.
 Co-developed and implemented the college’s assessment plan and activities.
 Assisted in the curriculum revision and development of the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology courses
and programs.
 Served on the NIMS Manufacturing Advisory Board and assisted Daley in achieving NIMS accreditation.
 Led the revision of the district-wide CCC Nursing Progression Policy and Program Assessment plan.
 Revamped the open registration process by creating a separate process for new and returning students.
 Revised the educational plans for students to align with state expectations and program descriptions.
 Created a robust faculty hire needs projection schema.
 Served on the hiring committee of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Adult Education.

Executive Director, Academic Development, 5/2010-9/2010
Accountable for providing leadership to assure the integrity and currency of all academic programs; providing faculty
development opportunities; assuring adherence to academic policy and procedures; and overseeing the development of
articulation and partnerships for transfer.
Responsibilities:
Leads collaborative efforts with administrators and faculty, including Vice Presidents, Deans, and academic department
chairs, to facilitate improvement in curricular and program delivery; spearheads the development of district-wide
articulation agreements and negotiates new relationships with external partners to provide optimal baccalaureate transfer
opportunities for students; and provides support for accreditation efforts across the District, including research and
documentation about regional and programmatic accreditation processes and scheduling mock visits.
Accomplishments:
 Created an electronic database for district office that lists ICCB Form 13 articulation course agreements between
each CCC college and four-year institutions.
 Examined cut-off scores for placement into English, reading and math courses and recommended changes, as
needed.
 Provided research and recommendations regarding issues in higher education, particularly developmental education,
including remedial mathematics.
 Evaluated the effectiveness of the Leadership Academy, the Faculty Development Seminars, and the Master Faculty
training.
 Developed Associate of Engineering Science, Associate of Fine Arts, and Associate of Arts in Teaching degree
templates for use in the district catalog.
 Assisted in crafting academic policy language and student FAQs for the new foreign language policy, blackboard
usage, virtual office hours, 15-hour graduate hour requirement for untenured faculty, and human diversity
requirement.
 Collaborated with ACTFL to provide proficiency standards for CCC foreign language courses.
 Conducted a syllabus audit of randomly selected syllabi from each college in order to monitor adherence to the new
district blackboard policy and to evaluate whether syllabi contained measurable student learning outcomes.
 Participated in recommending a district procedure for documenting and responding to student complaints.
 Served as a district liaison between CCC and IIT by assisting the seven CCC colleges in identifying eligible CCC
students for the IIT Presidential Scholarship and planning the meet-and-greet for these students at IIT.
 Provided evaluation tool for faculty development week.
 Assisted in the planning of the Year Up project by creating a project flow chart, recommending curriculum and
student support services, and providing student placement testing recommendations.
 Participated in the launch meeting for Foundations of Excellence as the district representative.
Wilbur Wright College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois

Accountable for managing operations of the department, hiring adjunct instructors, overseeing department assessment
activities, and resolving student concerns.
Responsibilities:
Develops and enforces departmental policies and procedures; maintains budget and office expenditures; mentors and
provides guidance to tenure-track faculty; coordinates and creates course schedules; and leads full-time faculty hiring
efforts.
Accomplishments:
 Provided research on placement testing results and lead the district’s revision of COMPASS cutoff scores in math.

Daley College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, 2010-Present Accountable for 56% of college budget, $30 million; Oversee an academic team of 3 Deans, 3 Associate Deans, 2 Directors, 6 Managers, and 8 Department Chairs, 57 full-time Instructors, 128 Adjuncts, 100 Adult Educators, 1 Coordinator and 1 support staff. Responsibilities: As the Chief Academic Officer, with annual student enrollment over 17,000, plan and oversee operation, staffing, and budgeting needs of the college, as it relates to Academic and Student Affairs. This includes carrying out the duties of the President in his absence; setting priorities, assigning work, monitoring progress and evaluating results of all academic programs and student services at the College; overseeing activities of the college academic and student programs through the supervision of the deans, including student, faculty and staff retention and development efforts; and managing the evaluation of 25% of the college credit faculty and 25% of the college programs on an annual basis; determining the college credit class schedules each term; developing and monitoring the academic department and academic support budgets, while monitoring expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget; designing and implementing curriculum and instruction; developing, administering, and reviewing assessment procedures and results; and adhering to collective bargaining agreements with appropriate unions. Accomplishments:  Wrote the college’s self-study report for the 2011 Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Visit and the 2015 assurance argument for the mid-cycle review.  Assisted the college in securing a ten-year accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and maintaining eligibility for the open pathway.  Developed and implemented a developmental education initiative that is successful in drastically improving remediation and increasing student enrollment in college math and English. One year after program implementation, the student cohort demonstrated the following successes: o Remedial students, one and two courses below college English, increased the completion rate of the first college-level English course by 22%. o Remedial students, one and two courses below college math, increased their completion rate of the first college-level math course between 16% and 33%.  Developed and oversaw plan, activities and expenditures for the Carl Perkins CTE grant of over $400,000.  Developed and implemented a 4-credit hour course grid and class schedule procedure that allows for more efficient offerings and links course scheduling to enrollment projections.  Developed new programs in Child Development and IBEW which assisted the college in increasing the IPEDS completion rate from 8% to 22%.  Co-developed and implemented the college’s assessment plan and activities.  Assisted in the curriculum revision and development of the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology courses and programs.  Served on the NIMS Manufacturing Advisory Board and assisted Daley in achieving NIMS accreditation.  Led the revision of the district-wide CCC Nursing Progression Policy and Program Assessment plan.  Revamped the open registration process by creating a separate process for new and returning students.  Revised the educational plans for students to align with state expectations and program descriptions.  Created a robust faculty hire needs projection schema.  Served on the hiring committee of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Adult Education.

Accomplishments:  Created an electronic database for district office that lists ICCB Form 13 articulation course agreements between each CCC college and four-year institutions.  Examined cut-off scores for placement into English, reading and math courses and recommended changes, as needed.  Provided research and recommendations regarding issues in higher education, particularly developmental education, including remedial mathematics.  Evaluated the effectiveness of the Leadership Academy, the Faculty Development Seminars, and the Master Faculty training.  Developed Associate of Engineering Science, Associate of Fine Arts, and Associate of Arts in Teaching degree templates for use in the district catalog.  Assisted in crafting academic policy language and student FAQs for the new foreign language policy, blackboard usage, virtual office hours, 15-hour graduate hour requirement for untenured faculty, and human diversity requirement.  Collaborated with ACTFL to provide proficiency standards for CCC foreign language courses.  Conducted a syllabus audit of randomly selected syllabi from each college in order to monitor adherence to the new district blackboard policy and to evaluate whether syllabi contained measurable student learning outcomes.  Participated in recommending a district procedure for documenting and responding to student complaints.  Served as a district liaison between CCC and IIT by assisting the seven CCC colleges in identifying eligible CCC students for the IIT Presidential Scholarship and planning the meet-and-greet for these students at IIT.  Provided evaluation tool for faculty development week.  Assisted in the planning of the Year Up project by creating a project flow chart, recommending curriculum and student support services, and providing student placement testing recommendations.  Participated in the launch meeting for Foundations of Excellence as the district representative.
