and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19b; [18:20])

12. Confession & Absolution

ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
C: But if we confess our sins, God, who is
faithful and just, will forgive our sins and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Brief silence for reflection on God’s Word
and for self-examination
13. L: Let us then confess our sins
to God our Father.
C: Almighty God, as we stand before
Your holy throne, we confess our
unworthiness to be in Your presence.
Your Law is perfect and true.
14. C: We are by nature sinful, and we have
failed to do what Your Law commands,
and we have done what You tell us
not to do. Even when we are unaware
of it, our sin separates us from Your
holy presence.

salvation of Jesus Christ, clothe us
in His righteousness, which we wear
as Your baptized children. Renew our
hearts and strengthen our confidence
in You and the free gift of Your
righteousness. Amen.

suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.

Our Father which art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom

as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread;
71. and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass
against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen.
72. THE WORDS OF OUR LORD
(Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
L: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when
He was betrayed, took bread, and when
He had given thanks, He broke it and
gave it to the disciples and said: “Take,
eat; this is My (†) body, which is given
for you. This do in remembrance of Me.”
73. In the same way also He took the cup after
supper, and when He had given thanks,
He gave it to them, saying: “Drink of it,
all of you; this cup is the new testament
in My (†) blood, which is shed for the
forgiveness of sins. This do, as often
as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
75. Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of pow’r and might,
Heaven and earth
are filled with Your glory.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of pow’r and might,
Heaven and earth
are filled with Your glory.
78. This is holy ground,
We’re standing on holy ground,
For the Lord is present
and where He is is holy.
This is holy ground,
We’re standing on holy ground,
For the Lord is present
and where He is is holy.
79. We are standing on holy ground,
And I know that there
are angels all around.
Let us praise Jesus now,
We are standing
in his presence
on holy ground.
80. We are standing on holy ground,
And I know that there
are angels all around.
Let us praise Jesus now,
We are standing
in his presence
on holy ground.

82. Jerusalem, my happy home,
When shall I come to thee?
When shall my sorrows have an end?
Thy joys when shall I see?
83. O happy harbor of the saints,
O sweet and pleasant soil!
In thee no sorrow may be found,
No grief, no care, no toil.
84. Thy gardens and thy gallant walks
Continually are green;
There grow such sweet
and pleasant flow’rs
As nowhere else are seen.
85. There trees forevermore bear fruit
And evermore do spring;
There evermore the angels dwell
And evermore do sing.
86. Apostles, martyrs, prophets, there
Around my Savior stand;
And soon my friends in Christ below
Will join the glorious band.
87. O Christ, do Thou my soul prepare
For that bright home of love
That I may see Thee and adore
With all Thy saints above.

And to pay rebellion’s price,
Gave Himself as sacrifice.

Strong and holy, just and true,
Working both to will and do.
97. Lord of harvest, great and kind,

Let the gath’ring nations all
See Your light and heed Your call.
