Lumen is a micro-framework based on Laravel that provides a simple way to build APIs and backend services with PHP. It is similar to Laravel but has fewer features for building full-stack web applications. Lumen can be used instead of Laravel for building lightweight backend services and APIs that don't require all of Laravel's functionality.
