Have you lost your Mojo?
If you are an Austin Powers fan you will remember that when he lost his Mojo
he went through an existential crisis, feeling like he had lost his skills to stop Dr.
Evil.
Every single one of us at some time have felt like we have lost our special
power, drive or energy that is synonymous with effectiveness and success. But
how do we get it back after this feeling of ‘losing our Mojo’?
Recharge Your Batteries Take some ‘you’ time. If I lose my Mojo it’s normally
because I am overworked and haven’t taken time to re-energize my life. Try
going early to bed and meditation. This will help re-align your body and re-
charge your batteries.
Exercise When my Mojo is well and truly gone I forget that a simple solution to
getting it back is exercise. When you find your head cloudy and your body
sluggish exercise can do wonders. Even if you are not heavily into exercise, a
light workout in the morning will get your heart rate up and will get your head
and body into a better state.
Get Organised Sort out your email inbox, schedule your day with a well
thought out to-do list, and set some goals. You will not achieve anything with a
scattergun approach, and having structure will enable you to achieve more.
Visualise Success Visualizing yourself as successful is a great way to give you
the motivation to keep your Mojo, and will help in assisting you not to lose it. I
have used visualization techniques when I have had speaking engagements
and when I am pitching for an important potential ‘client’. Also when I go to
sleep at night. It works.
Connect With People Being a Business Owner or Entrepreneur can be
lonely. We have lots to do, are often on our own and have many highs and
lows every single day. Remember to connect with people, pick up the phone,
go to lunch with a friend and really form solid relationships with your clients.
Show Up As Woody Allen said ‘80% of success is showing up’. If you want to
2. keep or get your mojo back you have to be in the game – not sitting on the
sidelines wishing you were involved in success. Whining, feeling sorry for
yourself or letting others get you down could cause you to quit; don’t allow this
to happen, start your day strong and go up from there.
Have Clarity If you don’t know what you do, how can you know where you are
going or who to speak to. Having clarity on your goals, what your business
provides and who your ideal clients are, will in itself give you motivation.
Without clarity you will certainly lose your mojo.
Get A Mentor or Coach No matter how well you are doing with your business,
two heads are better than one. Get yourself a mentor or business coach to
bounce ideas off, call when you are feeling glum, or give you that much needed
kick up the bottom. Every Entrepreneur has a dip, it is to be expected with the
pressure we are under on a daily basis, but having someone to share the
burden can stop you from cracking under the pressure.
