Achievements:
*Creatively co-developed & strategic led the rebranding of the organization and targeted media
engagement resulting in broader community recognition & participation, leading to an increased
number of strategic business & government partnerships and grant funding opportunities
*Project managed a number of highly and broadly attended community development conferences and
workshops (180 people representing over 60 organizations and 4 LGA’s represented), resulting in the
establishment of the Illawarra Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) network, with over 15
locally driven community development initiatives pioneered in the region.
*Effectively sourced & delivered a funded employment and training program in mining for disengaged
youth resulting in 15 students being employed. It was recognized as the best delivered & supported
funded program (rated by Federal government local representatives as ‘benchmark’) out of 15
programs running in the Shellharbour LGA.
*Established a local Business network, facilitating training, networking and business opportunities.
*Established financial stewardship training and counselling service with the intent of starting a debt
management & small loans center for micro-enterprise.
*Successfully re-structured a homeless refuge into a client centered capacity building program & semi-
independent accommodation that incorporated community engagement, skill development, health &
fitness and work experience for each resident, with the goal of being able to sustain them-selves in
independent accommodation over the long term.
*Successfully transitioned a computer recycling business into a work-place training & development
sustainable enterprise that sold refurbished computers and partnered with certified training providers in
IT maintenance, job agencies and center-link to provide disengaged (from work & education) young
people (some with disabilities) with certificate training and supervised work-place experience in IT
repairs and customer service, resulting in higher levels of self-confidence, employment opportunities
and a refurbished computer for each participant. This program was recognized as ‘innovative’ by
media and funding sources, and received significant TV & newspaper media attention, local business
support and government funding.
*Successfully sourced $182,500 of capital and operational government funding and raised
approximately $280,000 through fund raising events for service delivery and other NFP charities.
*Successfully transitioned a weekly outdoor community barbeque for the disadvantaged local
community into a sit down 2 course community meal, cooked on-site and served by volunteers and
supported by local businesses. Program volunteers included the disadvantaged which learnt hospitality
and food handling skills. The success of this program led to the funding of a commercial kitchen
(previously a domestic kitchen was used to cook and serve food) which was also used as a revenue
income stream from a catering company who leased it 3 days a week and who employed single
mothers who were unemployed.
*Project managed a $200,000 refurbishment of a commercial kitchen and training rooms for the
purpose of community services, engagement and training.
*Awarded ‘Global Community Builder Giraffe Award’ by the Bank of Ideas in recognition of risk taking
and stepping up to make a difference at the community level through internal program design and
broader community engagement and development

*Pioneered an innovative education and employment approach for vulnerable youth consisting of a
modified HSC and part time apprenticeship which resulted in 90% of students completing their HSC
and part time apprenticeship and 95% obtaining fulltime work or entering into tertiary education.
*Established financial and operating systems, procedures, controls and reporting mechanisms from the
ground up for areas including, finance, governance, compliance, IT and communications, client history
and asset management .
*Project managed the relocation and renovation of an industrial warehouse site into a high school and
trade training facility, coordinating trades, materials and undertaking necessary regulatory approvals
and meeting all necessary health and safety compliance requirements on time, and within an
