Duration of Unit: 27 hours
Unit Description
This unit covers the competencies required to conduct education research. It involves writing
research proposal, collecting and analysing research data and writing research report.
Summary of Learning Outcomes:
(i) Examine the need for research in education and other areas.
(ii) Develop and correctly demonstrate the use of research skills independently.
(iii) Work with and accommodate views of other researchers in a joint project.
(iv) Give a critical appraisal of other people’s research.

The final typed and bound Research Proposal shall be handed in by all students by the last day
of the module without fail. Late submission of Research Proposal will NOT be accepted.
Submission Policies:
It is of utmost importance that students observe the dates and deadlines for handing in
assignments which should be collected by the class representatives. Students should ensure
that they sign as they hand in. Any student who fails to write and hand in any assignment,
will be deemed to have scored zero in that particular assignment. The final examination dates
will be decided upon by the examinations officer and will be communicated to the students.
