GET INVOLVED AND GET ACTIVE EVENTS
Cheerleading
Our 23 Cheerleaders now have their Uniform
and are working hard on their routines so
they can display them at Brockenhurst and
Farnborough Sixth Form College.
The group train every Wednesday lunchtime
and have perfected a dance routine
alongside jumps, lifts and tumbles. It is
hoped that they will enter a competition in
the summer and compete at a local level.
Indoor 24 Cricket Competition
On Wednesday 11th March a mixture of
recreational and Cricket Team players
entered the Regional Indoor 24 Cricket
Competition hosted at QMC. The teams
finished 2nd in the Performance and
Partcipation categories.
British Schools Karting
Championships
Two teams from Peter Symonds have got
through to the Regional Event of the British
Schools Karting Championships. The event
will be held at Thruxton on Sunday 26th April
where we hope to see either PSC A or PSC C
Team qualify for the National Event in July.
The qualifying teams include Alasdair Irvine,
Joe Davison, Alex Britten, Sam Cohen, Austin
Forster and Ben Barber.
IM Basketball Competition at
Sparsholt College
Recreational Basketball players from PSC
entered a Basketball Tournament hosted at
Sparsholt College. The two teams worked
hard to beat strong competitors like QMC
and Andover finishing in 2nd and 4th place.
Dodgeballers raise money for BHF
14 Students who have been doing Dodgeball as their
activity raised over £50 for the British Heart Foundation
this term. All of the players have been learning the skills
and tactics of how to become a winning team. On the
day of the event, teams were randomly chosen. The Red
Team played the Blue Team in 3 straight matches. Blue
won 3-0! Well done to all the players who took part.
PSC v Austrian Exchange students
Recreational Footballers from college played part in
hosting a friendly 11-a-side Football match against a
group of Austrian Exchange students on Friday 13th
March. The game was a tough match with the first half
seeing PSC take a 3-0 lead. In the second half the
Austrian students scored 2 goals and prevented any
more from PSC finishing 3-2. Thank you to all the
players who took part.

PETER SYMONDS COLLEGE SPORT MAKER | Issue 2 2
In September 2014 the college started
Recreational Futsal sessions on a Friday
lunchtime in the sports hall.
Futsal is a five-a-side game, normally played
on a flat indoor pitch with hockey sized goals
and a size 4 ball with a reduced bounce. It is
played to touchlines and all players are free
to enter the penalty area and play the ball
over head-height. Games are 20 minutes per
half, played to a stopping clock (similar to
basketball) with time-outs permitted.
In January the sessions changed to a league
which saw 6 teams enter. Of these team, the
best individual players were selected to
make a college side.
Will, Seb, Kieran, George, Jack, Nink, Sagar
and Floran have all become the PSC Futsal
Team.
This year they have played competitively
agains Queen Mary’s College twice, Alton
College twice and Sparsholt College. They
won all matches against Queen Mary’s and
Alton and narrowly lost to Sparsholt in a
tough game
where the
final score
was 14-10 to
Sparsholt.
September 2015 we hope to enter the boys
into a local Futsal League where they will get
to play more colleges in the local Hampshire
Area.
