We have flip cameras that we can loan out. Here are a few tips. If you have more to share, please contribute. One take – If at all possible film the video in one take. This avoids any editing time and MAJOR hassle. It is perfectly acceptable to film a “gritty” video and it is more realistic for your audience.Length of vlog? Only a tiny percentage of your audience will watch your vlog beyond five minutes. Capture interest early on in your vlog Keep it under 5 minutes. 3 minutes is even better.Location, location, location: If you are using a hand-held Flip camera – location is everything. Look for a quiet spot that with as much lighting as possible. Natural light in a lobby is good for example. Avoid outdoor areas that are windy. You probably won’t notice the wind as you are filming, but the microphone does. Place the camera an equal distance from your interviewer and interviewee, ideally being stabilized on a solid object or even better use a mini tripod. This avoids both noise level differences and wobbly hands.Clothing - No tight patterns on shirts, etc. Solid colors or simple patterns come out much betterPosting to YouTube is easy and this can be imbedded in your blog post. Make sure you share your video title, description and tagging. Add keywords to your title, video description and tags. Add a link to a relevant Dell page after the first sentence of your video description as well as names and job titles of those in your video. (make sure you record all that when you are doing talking heads)
