Laura Dennis-Smith enjoys dance as her hobby, having started ballet lessons at age 5 with her sister. Over the years she has studied various dance styles like tap, jazz, and contemporary jazz, earning trophies and certificates of completion. Her favorite is classical ballet, which she has studied the longest, and she has advanced to pointe work. She loves dance because while it provides exercise, it has allowed her to perform, meet people, and enter competitions, all while having fun.

1. My hobby, my interest By Laura Dennis-Smith

2. My hobby is… For my hobby or interest I have chosen dance. It may seem boring to some people or even simple but it’s an interesting thing to do in my spare time.

3. Background dance I started dance at 5yrs old with my younger sister Georgia. I started doing ballet with a professional academy. I earned a trophy, over ten dance certificates saying that I passed each grade ballet exam, badges and I even got to keep a costume or two.

4. Continuing dance As well as doing ballet, I have also participated in tap, classical ballet, gymnastics, jazz, Contempary jazz and much more. I also learnt Russian dance and Spanish. My favourite is classical ballet because I have been studying it for a long time and have grown very close to it.

5. ballet Pointe After doing ballet for such a long time, I have gone into the next step called ‘Pointe’. Although there are harder techniques, Pointe can look really tricky from the audience but looks magnificent as well.

7. Why I like it I love dance because although its good exercise, I have performed with many people, met many people, entered competitions and shows, but the point is because it’s my hobby and I found it so much fun after I joined. Me at dance classes on Russell Island.
