Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Say - Introduce yourself and your role to DHL ASK- How many of you have had experience with an international DHL shipment (sold this service already) or have you heard any jargon in reference to DHL? Listen – to responses congratulate anyone who has recently brought on international business and capture any jargon / struggles re international. Explain that it is your goal to provide them with an introduction to DHL that will allow them to go out and bring on international shipments. - Ask them how much revenue that they make from an average DOM shipment and what they believe the revenue is for an international shipment. Quote the figures of 80.00 for a WPX shipment 120.00 for IMP
  2. Time: 3 min. Discuss above slide
  3. Time: 3 min. Discuss above slide
  4. Time: 3 min. Discuss above slide
  5. Time: 3 min. Discuss our marketplace in the world
  6. Time: 3 min. Discuss Market share worldwide
  7. Time: 3 min. Ask do the revenue figures surprise anyone or the number of employees – bear in mind that these figures from the competitors include UPS / FEDEX domestic which really bumps up their figures.
  8. Time: 3 min. Ask what types of industries have a need for a shipping solutions – who are our top customers Discuss how they use DHL as we offer them the solutions to move their shipments from A-B as quickly as possible with our world wide network. Transition to next slide - Lets look at the solutions (products) we have in place that enable these international movements
  9. Time: 3 min. Read through the slide Ask them what is duty and who imposes it and why (protect economy / industries, make money, protect the people of that country) before starting the explanation.
  10. Time: 3 min. Ask the question and see what type of responses that you get back – give them a few minutes to note their answers down. Sometimes samples come up Bring up the list (US non dutiable items – service directory). Hold up the service directory and advise that it this tool that will clearly demonstrate what is non dutiable / dutiable. Advice that above certain weights countries may class documentation as dutiable (remember countries make money from this and protect their industries – so if they make paper they may not want it imported). Ask them what companies they should target for this solution (product) Finance / publishing / research/ Insurance / head offices – intercompany mail. Ask them what paperwork do you need to send a non dutiable item – just an AWB (hold it up and describe it as shipping label)
  11. Time: 3 min. We have discussed non dutiable is sent as IDOCs therefore dutiable must go on another service – Worldwide Priority Express. When a shipment travels as dutiable we need to supply more information re this shipment. Ask them what each countries charges = DUTY and ask do they know how countries decide what duty to charge (value / contents – does that country make that product). Customers need to supply more info to enable customs to have a clear understanding of the value, contents and country of manufacture of the shipment this is done via the customs invoice (later on today we will look at the detail that needs to be contained on a customs invoice) In some cases other/further documentation is required – ask for an example (e.g. sanitary certificate)
  12. Time: 3 min. How does DHL move shipments around the globe – ASK does anyone know how many DHL entry / exit points out of the country that we have in America and where are they located in the USA. Discuss the main routings that these exit points take into other countries. Explain the differences between a gateway / hub

  16. Instructor Note: Review each question by first asking for a volunteer to answer, then click to show correct answer. Q1/05 Page Number: 729 Follow up with additional explanation as necessary. Additional Explanation Value Note: This section provides information on country value limits and their impacts on transit time, documentation and/or service. If a shipment is over the value limit for the country, it will travel as door-to-door non-compliant and will therefore require an additional 3-5 days transit time. Door to Airport service is available only upon customer request.
  17. Instructor Note: Review each question by first asking for a volunteer to answer, then click to show correct answer. Q1/05 Page Number: 707 Follow up with additional explanation as necessary. Additional Explanation Special documentation requirements are found in the Value Notes, WPX footnotes and sometimes Operations Notes. Connie – did not see the following… the WPX weight restriction, if this shipment were under 200 grams, no certificate would be necessary.
