Depending on the type of glove box, the physical barrier may:
Protect sensitive material inside from the outside
contamination
(chemicals or particulates)
Protect operators from hazards inside

Class 5 or Class 100 environment

Air cleanliness standards:
Class 100 = 100 or less, particles at ≥ 0.5 um per cubic foot.
