Kathleen Shaw took a trip to Switzerland in 2005 and visited several locations. She visited Brunnen, located on Lake Lucerne with views of surrounding mountains. In Brunnen, she saw her grandmother's family's former hotel, now called the Grand Palais Brunnen. In Lucerne, she saw the historic Chapel Bridge and medieval buildings. The bridge was constructed in 1333 and contains 110 historical paintings. She also visited Stoos, located above Lucerne, where she took a train up Fronalpstock mountain, reaching an altitude of 1922 meters.
