Letting go off the past
1. Letting Go Off The Past
Letting go off the past can be very tough, whether it’s someone's bad behavior,
feelings, relationships or thoughts. Each day proffer a new chance to start over and
go on from our past, however, Still we might know and understand it totally,
successfully doing it is extremely tough in practice. People get stuck in a chain of
unhappiness and anger, forever looking reverse, while missing out on how good
their lives can be if they just learn how to let go of the past. In fact, here are skills
that can be learned that can help us learn to forgive, let go and be happy.
1. Considerate your past - Try looking reverse at your past as an impartial
viewer. Learn to know that you are not your past. Remember that the people and
situation of your past created experience of you, but they did not create you. This
can help you break the chain of self-destructive behavior.
2. 2. Meditate - Meditation is action. Our mind is much harder to strengthen than
our body. Our lives are busy and fast paced, filled with external noise and
distractions. Clarity comes from quiet. Meditation allows for reflection and helps
us be tolerant to finally being able to let go of what has hurt us.
3. Discontinue living in the past - By feeling a past happening you are harming
yourself and killing your chance of moving on and living a cheerful life. Letting
go of those feeling allows you to embrace new chance to move forward to new
things.
4. Let go of Anxiety - One aspect of letting go of the past is anxiety. We worry
repeating past mistakes. Letting go of this anxiety will open you up to fresh
possibilities and allow you to learn from your mistakes while letting go of the
past. This helps you focus on the positives in your life.
3. 5. Learn something new - Learning a new skill that can help you
get future goals helps set you on the right way to letting go of your
past by showing you more prospects and chances.
6. Be flexible - Once you are sure what your goals are, don’t think
too much about the results. Be flexible in your expectations.
Allowing things to play out as they will can remove anxiety and
permit you to see other potential opportunities in life.
I remember one of my favorite quotes from Lama Surya Das –
“Forgiveness means letting go of the
hope for a better past.”
