19. OPEN SOURCE HARDWARE
Open source hardware is hardware whose design is
made publicly available so that anyone can study,
modify, distribute, make, and sell the design or
hardware based on that design. The hardware’s
source, the design from which it is made, is available
in the preferred format for making modifcations to it.
Ideally, open source hardware uses readily-available
components and materials, standard processes, open
infrastructure, unrestricted content, and open-source
design tools to maximize the ability of individuals to
make and use hardware.

46. What's next with the OSCEdays?
●
January 2016: Founding a non-proft organisation to
steward the community – legally incorporated in
Germany, but with board members spread over 5
continents.
●
Building upon our networks and momentum - the next
OSCEdays event will take place between June 9th
-13th
2016.
●
Improving our online platform, and learning from our
community.
●
Spreading the OSCE idea more widely by developing
educational resources.
●
Supporting international organizers to develop ongoing
local chapters.
●
Initiating and incubating critical projects which enable
practical action towards an OSCE (clear examples, best
practices, research, policy recommendations, software
tools).
In a globalized world, a
circular economy can only be
developed through
international collaboration.
