The document summarizes how consumer use of technology and the internet has evolved over time. It shows that initially, the internet was used primarily for military and scientific purposes by a small number of people. However, usage has expanded greatly, with 71% of people in Great Britain now using mobile phones to access the internet. Most online shopping is for consumer electronics, books, and clothing. People primarily search for information using search engines rather than social media. Younger generations now watch online videos more for entertainment, while older people view them to relax. Social media usage has also grown significantly in recent years, becoming an important tool for businesses and a common way for people to connect.

7. Summary:
From my research in this presentation, it shown that the internet has developed a lot throughout
the years. The internet was first invented for a much different use that we use the Internet today. It
was created for military and science use with only little people using the internet. However, today
it is used globally for many different uses such as social media, shopping online and browsing
different websites.
The use of social media has populated throughout the years, more people use social media every
day. Therefore, we can see that most the population watch videos and use social media for
entertainment, this could include watching your favourite you-tubers, browsing on instagram,
twitter etc. The Internet and social media has changed and impacted consumers lives as it makes
their life easier such as it’s a way to connect with other people, sharing information, sharing of
files for entertainment and socialising. This is very beneficial as it can be sent to the people you
wish to send too in seconds and you don’t need to move whilst doing this.
It has also become more beneficially over the years as lots of people use social media within the
business industry. Therefore, more jobs have been created such as “Social media marketing”. The
business world now needs to promote their business on multiple platforms in order to reach all
their potential target market. Nowadays we see that an average business will have Twitter,
Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Furthermore, technology has changed massively throughout
the years as the computers are much faster and now portable. Therefore, the public can take the
internet with them on the go. Lastly, this demonstrates that the new technology has made
consumers lives much easier.
