L aurie K. Gilbert soc. is a Hollywood-accredited motion
picture Director of Photography who operates globally
from S.E. Asia. He has more than 30 years professional
experience originating offshore marine imagery for cinema
and television.
He shoots the global television coverage of America’s Cup,
Transpac, Rolex, Corum and Olympic sailing regattas as
well as prestigious superyacht imagery for both advertising
and promotional purposes.
Gilbert owns the Singapore based production organisation
L’Image Cinematography as well as Malaysian offshore
marine photographic company, Aerial Marine Media Sdn.

AMERICAS CUP 1986 / 7
Pioneered the on-water global television coverage of offshore yacht racing.
For 5 months was the single cameraman responsible for the on-water television coverage of the
entire event for a total of 52 television networks worldwide supported by one cameraman in the
air. Executive producer was Buzz Hornet of IMG New York, Producer Peter Duncan TCN9 Perth .
KOREA OLYMPIC SAILING REGATTA 1988
Senior cameraman of the six camera teams who pioneered Olympic Sailing coverage for
international television. Was responsible for designing the equipment and devising all the
shooting techniques necessary to work in the big seas off the coast of Korea and was then
responsible for training the Australian camera teams in the event coverage. Executive producer
was Ron May, Director was Ric Dovey
BEIJING OLYMPIC SAILING REGATTA 2009
One of three specialist helicopter aerial cinematographers responsible to the host broadcaster for
the aerial coverage of the Olympic Sailing Regatta in city of Qing Dao, China. The global
coverage of this challenging event was awarded the “Golden Rings Award for Best Sports
Coverage” by the IOOC. Executive Producer was Chris Lincoln.
MORNING LIGHT FEATURE FILM – THE WALT DISNEY CORPORATION 2007
Helicopter aerial cinematographer and credited as “Camera Operator” working with Roy E Disney
shooting the Hawaii arrival action sequences of the TRANSPAC yachts for the Walt Disney Corp
feature film “The Morning Light”. Executive producers were Roy E Disney and Leslie DeMeuse,
