1. Question 6:
How did you use media
technologies in the
construction and
research, planning and
evaluation stages?
2. Technology
I have used a plethora of technology to
evidence what I have done in my coursework
which includes Prezi, Sound cloud, InDesign,
Slide share, Word Processor and Final Cut Pro.
There are many benefits and limitations of
using each of these online and software
programmes .
3. Prezi
Prezi is an online presentation software which enables people to create
multi-media quickly.
The benefits of using Prezi is that it’s easy to use and it’s complex. This
means that presentations can be quickly put together. By using Prezi, you
can create a fun active presentation with various dynamics to keep your
audience interested. Embedding videos and images is quick and simple
and you can personalize your presentation.
The limitations however of using Prezi is that it takes time to learn how to
use a new piece of software especially if you haven’t used a piece of
software that’s similar to this. Another limitation of Prezi is that as it’s a
forever developing online software, various icons may change place
therefore, taking more time in creating the presentation.
4. Sound cloud
Sound cloud is another online IT skill to help with variation in my blog.
Sound cloud is an online audio distribution that enables it’s users to
upload, record, promote and share their original sounds. I have used
sound cloud in order to record myself talking about what would be
happening in each scene if there wasn’t a script.
With sound cloud you can record and upload sound quick and easy that
isn’t time consuming. You can decided whether you want to share your
sound or to keep it private; sound cloud doesn’t say you have to publish
your recorded sounds. The file size has no limitations and various phones
such as IPhones can get the sound on the move.
The limitations however of using sound cloud are: you can’t edit your
sounds for example, if you done a voice recording you would have to
delete the one you have just done and re-record everything. A final
limitation to sound could is that if you wanted to the full package
production, it comes out a cost and this is expensive.
5. InDesign
InDesign is a software programme that allows you to create a professional
looking magazine or film poster (I have used this to create mine). InDesign
was created as a replacement for PageMaker.
The benefits of using InDesign is that it’s simple to use when you know
how to use it. Unlike PageMaker, the finished product looks more
professional and appealing to the eye. In Design has a lot more of tools
that you can use to edit and change not only your picture but your text
that you decide to use in the creation process. Another benefit of using
InDesign is that if the file size is too large, you can always save your
creation as a PDF file instead.
The limitation of using InDesign is that when you first start using InDesign,
it’s time consuming getting to know where all the tools and editing
buttons are.
6. Slide Share
Slide share is another online presentation service that I have used. Slide
share allows you to create presentations on PowerPoint, PDF’s, Keynote
and Open Documents and then upload them onto slide share so you can
embed them onto your personal blogs or just for publish presentations.
This is a Web 2.0 based service.
Slide share is the easiest online presentation service that I have used in to
add evidence onto my blog because you only need to click a button in
order to upload your presentations in order to get the embed code. I also
think that it’s the easiest online presentation service is because it’s the
least time consuming website to use and when you figure out how to use
it, you won’t forget because of how simple it is.
The limitation of using Slide share is that sometime when you try to
upload your presentations, it takes time to upload this therefore, you need
to come out of the programme to sign back in and this can be time
consuming in itself.
7. Word Processor
Word processor is a simplistic put together software programme where
you just need to type and can copy and paste everything you’ve wrote into
your blog. I have used this because of this reason.
Word processor has many benefits such as being able to use tables if
needed, boxes, pictures, text boxes, change colour of the text and you can
easily change the font. Also, the benefits of using word processor because
including my evidence onto my blog is that it has spell checker and it tells
you if your sentence structure needs changing.
8. Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software developed by
Micromedia Inc. and Apple Inc.
The benefits of Final Cut Pro is that you can create something of your own
with footage that you already have shot or footage that is already
available to you. Another benefit of Final Cut Pro is that you can move
your footage easily around when you have placed and rendered into the
software. A third benefit about Final Cut Pro is that you can crop and
delete the footage that you have so you only have a part of the footage in
which you want, need or think works best.
The limitations of using Final Cut Pro is that when you need to render
footage into the website or when you need to save your project, it takes
time depending on the size of the clip.
