Introduction, name
Why I chose Google
-They are innovative in tech
-They are a massive and growing company
-We all use it
Google's name is synonymous with innovation, and as a result of their countless acquisitions, (187, if you want to be literal) an active member of creating the future.
Developed Google Fiber and their own self-driving car.
"Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
Aesthetic uniformity through all of their seperate social media platforms, and their own website. They use website design that is muted and simple, along with accents that are vibrant and composed mainly of primary colors.
Markets well to multiple groups:
Young people who are used to tech-startup’s sense of design
Older people who enjoy simplicity
Google's appearance is perplexingly and universally appealing.
Google is mainly an advertising company
67.39 Billion dollars in revenue from advertising
Google uses their social media to burnish own image
Realistically an information gathering company, targeting you like a bird of prey
They keep a fun-loving image, and operate their company with love like a normal tech-startup
I think they would gain a lot from marketing to people under 40, to help their company grow with consistency
Google’s Posts on Twitter
-Generally commentary about common searches and holidays, current events
-Maintains brand
-Lacks in being actually interesting
-”New Rules of Marketing and PR” David Meerman Scott says posts should not only comment on current events, but add value
Google’s posts normally get under 1000 retweets, despite 14.4 million followers
-They don’t provide any entertainment
-Google’s account is pathetic and I wouldn’t’ actually follow it
Googles YouTube
-Very Successful
-Small volume
-Service based or Year-in-Review
Describe the flow of Year in Review videos
Starts serious talking about issues like the confederate flag and the legalization of gay marriage, and a ton of other influential stuff from the year
Ends with mostly just memes, there’s people doing the nae nae and the video from Hotline Bling, Hoverboards and the Shia LeBeouf JUST DO IT video
Cheesey feelgood video but effective, successful driving force behind their Facebook
Google’s replies to people that tweet at them, but it is only tech-support for the most part
Their stream of replies is repetitive and impersonal
If I received one of these, I wouldn’t even know if it was from a human
As shown, they are mostly copy-paste replies
Google could use inbound marketing in their blog
Frequent posts in various topics.
A lot of people use services like RSS feeds or feedly or reddit to notify them when some article of information about their interest emerges
Google could offer a service that would email you when one of these topics got a new post, and then using peoples emails, target people who are interested in ads or mobile and draw them into advertising with AdWords or just helping them use the system more heavily and more effectively.
Google Mobile search app flawed execution
No widespread use
Supposed value of app is not the google search feature, but all additional features
Additional features accessed through long scrolling menu where all widgets are spaced out
All information and apps should be quickly and readily available via a one click dashboard, or quick buttons
Google owns Google Play, which hasn’t found a very big niche yet in the market.
My idea involves introducing podcasting
Podcasting is basically recorded audio segments that people put out, usually prefaced by advertisements. Most people skip these ads and this cuts into ad profits
Google Play buys licensing or publishing rights to podcasts, and builds advertisements to play mandatorily in their app
Google could make all of these changes quickly and without much cost to the company.
They could rebrand their Twitter, and they already have the graphic artists on hand, they would just design different things. It would require a change of attitude on the twitter social media team. The team would be pushed to be more personable, friendly and memorable.
It would take a web-developed a matter of days to add in the email-updating functionality to theirblog. A redesign of the mobile app would take the longest, but Google’s programmers and app developers could make it happen within months.
The podcasting idea would be the most time and money intensive, but nobody else is grabbing onto that idea to make podcast ads more effective.
